First game I played with Porcelain Amumu was late January 2022, right when it dropped. Locked it in for a Diamond ranked game on a Tuesday night around midnight, and the loading screen splash alone had my duo asking what skin that was. The little guy looks like a hand-painted tea set come to life. Fragile. Precious. Still crying, obviously.
What Porcelain Amumu actually brings to the Rift
For 1350 RP you’re getting the full Epic treatment here. New VFX across the board, new recall animation, the works. Voice lines stay base, no VO refresh, but honestly Amumu’s base voice already carries enough sadness for any skinline.
The Q bandage toss has this ceramic-blue trailing effect that reads super clean against the Rift floor. Kinda feels like you’re throwing a ribbon of porcelain glaze. W tears get the treatment too – the puddle underneath Amumu shifts to match the white-and-blue palette, and it looks way better than the default green sludge. Not gonna lie, the E tantrum burst is where the VFX shine hardest. Shattering porcelain fragments pop out in every direction. Played maybe 40 games with this skin in the first two weeks and the E never got old.
The ult is clean. R locks down a teamfight and the porcelain crack pattern that spreads on the ground reads instantly. Your team knows the zone, the enemy knows they messed up. Been running this in Diamond jungle and support, and the clarity on the ult VFX is better than most of Amumu’s catalog. Big deal for a champ whose engage timing matters so much.
Recall animation has Amumu sitting with a little porcelain tea set. He tries to pour tea and it spills. Of course it does. The whole Porcelain line leans into this delicate ceramic aesthetic and Amumu fits it naturally – small, round, already looks like something you’d put on a shelf.
The Porcelain set and who made it
Porcelain Amumu released January 26, 2022. Season 12 start. Augusto Quirino and West Studio handled the artwork, and they captured the vibe perfectly. The splash has Amumu surrounded by broken porcelain pieces, teardrops everywhere, sitting in what looks like a temple courtyard. Beautiful piece.
The Porcelain skinline dropped alongside Porcelain Kindred, Lux, Lissandra, and Ezreal that patch. Riot went hard on the Lunar New Year theme that year and the Porcelain line was the flagship. Amumu is the budget-friendly option in the set at 1350 RP while some others went Legendary or Prestige. Fair price for the package.
9 chromas total if you want variety. Obsidian goes full dark mode and its the one I see most in my games – people love the contrast against the white porcelain base. Golden Tiger hits different with the orange and green combo, feels festive. Tanzanite swaps the blue accents to deep purple which honestly reads like a completely different skin. The rest fill out the usual spread but those three stand out from the pack.
Should you buy Porcelain Amumu?
Real verdict: this is a top three Amumu skin. Maybe top two. Surprise Party Amumu has the nostalgia factor and Sad Robot has its fans, but Porcelain Amumu beats both on pure VFX quality. Could be wrong here but I think this is the cleanest-looking Amumu skin Riot has put out.
1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New particles on every ability, a solid recall, and a splash that actually makes the sad mummy look elegant. Shop has it, permanent availability, grab it whenever. (Random aside: I used the splash as my Discord avatar for like three months and people kept asking if it was from a Studio Ghibli film.)
If you main Amumu or even just pull him out for the jungle clear when your team needs AP engage, Porcelain is the skin to run. Been maining Amumu with this since season 12 and I keep coming back even after trying newer options. The Porcelain line aged well and this skin specifically holds up. Skip it only if you’re a Surprise Party purist, but even then – at least try it in practice tool once. The E particles alone might convert you.
