Dumpling Darlings Amumu

Locked in Dumpling Darlings Amumu the night it dropped in February 2025 and honestly wasnt expecting much. Amumu skins tend to be hit or miss for me. Played maybe 15 games with it that first weekend and something about the little dumpling-wrapped mummy just clicked. The whole vibe is cozy in a way that feels wrong on a champion whose entire identity is crying and loneliness. Works though.

What Dumpling Darlings Amumu actually changes

So the model rework turns Amumu into this steamed bun creature with a dumpling wrapper instead of bandages. Cute concept. The new VFX are where the 1350 RP really shows up. His Q shoots out what looks like a chopstick tether, and the W tears have this warm steam effect instead of the usual sad puddle. Kinda feels like Riot leaned hard into the food theme without making it look like a joke skin.

The R is the highlight. Bandage Toss into ult in a teamfight and these little steam clouds pop around every champion you lock down. Played this into a Katarina last week and caught her mid-E with the ult. The VFX layered over her reset animation looked clean. Not gonna lie, thats probably the best feeling you get from this skin.

Recall animation is new too. He sits down with a little bamboo steamer basket and it’s one of those recalls you actually want to watch instead of spam-clicking the shop. Voice lines stay base, no VO refresh, which is fine for an Epic but you do notice the disconnect between the cheerful food aesthetic and Amumu’s depressing voice pack. Pre-6 laning in support or the jungle clear just has him sobbing while dressed as a dumpling. Strange energy.

The Dumpling Darlings line and release context

Dumpling Darlings dropped February 5, 2025. Lunar New Year timing, obviously. The Dumpling Darlings skinline sits in that same space as Cafe Cuties or Heartsteel where Riot picks a cozy aesthetic and slaps it on a handful of champions. Amumu fits better than you’d think.

Fortune ‘Fortuneee’ K handled the artwork. The splash captures the warmth of the theme perfectly. Amumu sitting among steamer baskets with that signature sad expression but surrounded by comfort food imagery. Good contrast.

8 chromas total. Obsidian turns the whole dumpling wrapper dark which gives him this black sesame bun look, genuinely my favorite. Amethyst shifts the palette purple and reads well against the Rift’s green. Rose Quartz is cute but felt too washed out in my Diamond games, hard to track the Q animation against certain map skins. (Random aside: my duo partner bought every single chroma day one and I think thats the most invested I’ve seen anyone get in an Amumu cosmetic.) The rest are standard fare. Ruby, Catseye, Sapphire, Emerald, Turquoise round it out.

Is 1350 RP fair for Dumpling Darlings Amumu?

Real verdict: this is a solid Epic. Not the best Amumu skin. Surprise Party still holds that spot for me because the ult sound effect alone is worth it. But Dumpling Darlings Amumu sits comfortably in second or third depending on how you feel about Porcelain Amumu.

Could be wrong here but I think this skin plays better in the jungle than support. The VFX on W during jungle clear look great in the darker camp areas. Been running this with a full AP build and the Q into R combo’s visual feedback is satisfying enough that it almost makes you forget you’re playing Amumu in Diamond where people just buy QSS and walk away from you.

Shop has it, permanent availability. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New model, new VFX, new recall. Standard Epic package but executed well. Maybe just my experience but I’ve seen more Dumpling Darlings Amumu in my games this season than any other Amumu skin, at least in ranked around D2-D3 elo. The skin has legs.

Worth 1350 if you main Amumu. If you’re picking him up as a pocket jungle pick for specific comps, Surprise Party is probably the better investment since it’s been around longer and has that nostalgia factor. But for Amumu one-tricks grinding ranked, this is a clean addition to the rotation. Simple recommendation.
