Fortnite V-Bucks to USD Converter and Price Breakdown

Fortnite V-Bucks to USD has no single rate. One V-Buck costs anywhere from $0.0072 to $0.0198 in the US, depending on the pack, and since Epic’s change on March 19, 2026 every pack holds fewer V-Bucks for the same price. The calculator below uses the current packs, and the tables after it show the math.

Updated April 2026. Post-Chapter 7 Season 2 pricing. Rates based on official Epic Games US store prices.

How does the Fortnite V-Bucks to USD math work?

Type in a V-Bucks amount and the calculator shows what it costs at every pack size, plus the cheapest combination of packs. There is a toggle for the other direction too, from dollars to V-Bucks.

If you want to check it by hand, the formula is simple: USD value = V-Bucks x (pack price / V-Bucks in the pack). Take 2,000 V-Bucks. At the $8.99 pack rate, that is 2,000 x ($8.99 / 800) = $22.48. The $89.99 pack? $14.40. Same items, eight dollars apart, and honestly the only thing that changed is which pack you clicked.

The video below breaks down exactly what changed in the pricing.

How much are Fortnite V-Bucks in USD after the March 2026 change?

Epic announced the change on March 10, 2026, and it took effect on March 19. Prices stayed put. The packs got smaller, which players were quick to call shrinkflation (fair enough, that is exactly what it is), and Epic’s own explanation was that the cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot.

Fortnite V-Bucks to USD conversion chart with every pack before and after March 2026

Pack Price V-Bucks before V-Bucks now Cost per V-Buck
Exact amount top-up $0.99 100 50 $0.0198
Starter $8.99 1,000 800 $0.0112
Mid $22.99 2,800 2,400 $0.0096
Large $36.99 5,000 4,500 $0.0082
Max $89.99 13,500 12,500 $0.0072

Thing is, the exact amount top-up took the biggest hit. It used to be roughly half a dollar for 50 V-Bucks and now costs $0.99 for 50, so that moment when you are 50 short and grab a quick top-up costs about twice what it did before.

What did the change do to passes and Fortnite Crew?

Epic cut the pass prices at the same time, which softens the blow a little:

  • Battle Pass: now 800 V-Bucks
  • OG Pass: now 800 V-Bucks
  • Music Pass: now 1,200 V-Bucks
  • LEGO Pass: now 1,200 V-Bucks
  • Fortnite Crew: the monthly grant drops from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks

The Battle Pass at 800 V-Bucks lines up exactly with the $8.99 pack, which is convenient. The Crew change is the one that adds up over time: 200 fewer V-Bucks a month is 2,400 a year, which is the whole $22.99 pack.

Fortnite Item Shop prices: V-Bucks to USD

Item Shop prices are in V-Bucks, so the dollar figure depends on how you bought them. Two rates below.

Item price At the $8.99 pack rate At the $89.99 pack rate
500 V-Bucks $5.62 $3.60
800 V-Bucks $8.99 $5.76
1,200 V-Bucks $13.49 $8.64
1,500 V-Bucks $16.86 $10.80
2,000 V-Bucks $22.48 $14.40

Put simply, a 1,500 V-Bucks outfit can be seventeen dollars or under eleven. Nothing about the skin changes, only the pack you paid with.

Fortnite V-Bucks to USD quick reference

For quick lookups, here are common amounts at the best rate (the $89.99 pack) and at the $8.99 pack rate most people actually pay.

Cost per V-Buck in USD for every Fortnite pack size

V-Bucks $89.99 pack rate $8.99 pack rate
100 $0.72 $1.12
500 $3.60 $5.62
1,000 $7.20 $11.24
2,000 $14.40 $22.48
5,000 $36.00 $56.19
10,000 $71.99 $112.38

Look, the 10,000 row tells the whole story. About $72 if you buy big packs, about $112 if you keep buying the small one.

How can you get a better V-Bucks rate?

Buy the biggest pack you will actually use

The $89.99 pack costs $0.0072 per V-Buck against $0.0112 for the $8.99 pack, about 36% less per V-Buck. Ninety dollars up front stings, but if you know you will buy skins over the next few months anyway, repeated small packs cost you more for the same items.

Pay through Epic for 20% back

Purchases made with Epic’s own payment system on PC, iOS, Android and the web give 20% back as Epic Rewards, which you can spend in Fortnite, Rocket League, Fall Guys or the Epic Games Store. Buying through a console store doesn’t give that, but console players can still buy through the web Item Shop. This is what the reward does to each pack:

Pack Price 20% back Effective price Effective cost per V-Buck
800 $8.99 $1.80 $7.19 $0.0090
2,400 $22.99 $4.60 $18.39 $0.0077
4,500 $36.99 $7.40 $29.59 $0.0066
12,500 $89.99 $18.00 $71.99 $0.0058

The catch is that the reward is store credit rather than cash, so it only helps if you will spend it (for most Fortnite players, a safe bet).

Skip the exact amount top-up

At $0.99 for 50 V-Bucks, it costs almost three times as much per V-Buck as the big pack. Use it only when you are a few V-Bucks short of something leaving the shop tonight.

How have V-Bucks prices changed over the years?

When What changed 1,000 V-Bucks or nearest pack
2017 V-Bucks launch 1,000 for $9.99
August 2020 Epic cuts prices by about 20% 1,000 for $7.99
2023 Prices go back up 1,000 for $8.99
March 19, 2026 Smaller packs, same prices 800 for $8.99

The 2020 cut came alongside Epic’s fight with Apple over in-app payments, the one that got Fortnite pulled from the App Store. Compare the first and last rows per V-Buck and the price has gone up by about 12% since launch.

Can you get V-Bucks without spending money?

A few. The Battle Pass track hands out V-Bucks as you level it, and Epic runs promotions and official Fortnite redeem codes from time to time. Beyond that? Real talk, no.

“Free V-Bucks generators” are scams without exception. They steal your Epic login, push you through fake surveys or install junk on your computer, and none of them actually adds V-Bucks to your account.

Can you convert V-Bucks back to USD?

No. Epic does not pay out a V-Bucks balance, and you cannot trade or send V-Bucks to another account. Refunds? Those cover items you bought, under Epic’s own rules, not the V-Bucks themselves. At least V-Bucks don’t expire, so whatever you have left sits there until the next shop rotation.

Do V-Bucks cost the same in other regions?

Everything on this page is US pricing. Europe pays in euros with VAT included, the UK in pounds, and Epic sets separate prices in many other countries. Bulk discount works the same way in every region, though.

If you play other games too, our Riot Points to USD calculator and Valorant Points guide do the same math for Riot’s currencies. And if you collect, the list of the rarest Fortnite skins shows which outfits money can no longer buy. Either way, punch your number into the Fortnite V-Bucks to USD calculator up top before you buy anything.
