What You Could Have Done Instead

The wasted on LoL calculator above turns your game count into hours, days and months of your life. Enter your games played, pick your main mode (Ranked, Normals, ARAM, Arena, Flex or Mixed), and it multiplies the two. It runs entirely in your browser, needs no login and saves nothing.

The result is an estimate, not a match-by-match log. I’ll break down the math, where to grab your game count, and why the real number is almost always higher than any tool shows.

How does the wasted on LoL calculator work?

Wasted on LoL calculator: hours spent playing League of Legends

One formula does all the work: total hours = games played x average match length in minutes / 60. The calculator uses these average lengths per mode:

Mode you pick Average length used
Ranked 32 minutes
Normals 30 minutes
Flex 35 minutes
Mixed 27 minutes
ARAM 20 minutes
Arena 18 minutes

Quick example. 4,000 ranked games at 32 minutes each come to 4,000 x 32 / 60, about 2,133 hours. The same 4,000 games as an ARAM main come to about 1,333 hours. Same game count, an 800-hour difference, and the only thing that changed is the queue.

Along with hours, you get days, months, a verdict and a list of things those hours could have been (books, gym sessions, flights to Tokyo). The “vs average player” figure compares your total with a benchmark of 832 hours, so 100% means you sit right on it. The result also comes as a 1080-pixel image card you can download and share.

Where do you find your total games played?

Games played is the only input. Get it roughly right, because every game you forget is about half an hour missing from the total, and there are three ways to find it.

Your profile in the League client

Open your profile and go to the stats tab. It lists games per season, so you add the seasons up yourself. Slow? A bit, but the numbers come straight from Riot.

A playtime tracker site

Sites like wol.gg look up your Riot ID and estimate your total time from match history. Handy for a quick total. The catch is that very old matches and some game types may be missing, so treat the result as a floor.

Riot’s data request

Riot lets you request a copy of your account data through its privacy pages. You get the full records, but it takes a while to arrive, and honestly most people only bother if they want a spreadsheet of everything.

Is the wasted on LoL number accurate?

For time inside matches, close enough (the averages are rough, but they even out over thousands of games). For time spent in League overall, no, and it always comes out low.

Think about everything that is not a match. Queue times. Champ select, and the lobby someone dodged after you spent a minute and a half picking runes. Loading screens. Practice Tool. Watching your own replays at 2x to figure out why you walked into that bush. None of that shows up in a game count. If the calculator says 1,000 hours, the time you actually spent in the client is higher, and for players who queue a lot in high elo, noticeably higher.

Region transfers can skew the count too. If you moved the account to another server, older games may not appear where you look, so add those seasons by hand if you remember them.

What do your wasted hours on LoL really mean?

Someone posts “I just checked, I have 3,000 hours, is this normal?” on Reddit every week, and the replies always split between “rookie numbers” and “go outside”. Both miss the point a little.

Put simply, hours alone don’t make anyone better. Twenty games a day on autopilot across three roles teach you less than five games on two mains where you actually think about trades and back timings. Spread over five years, 2,000 hours is about an hour a day, which is less than plenty of people spend scrolling their phone, and at least League keeps you thinking the whole time.

Still, if the number makes your stomach drop a little, pay attention to that. Plenty of players put a weekly cap on their games and stop queuing tired at 1 AM, and the games they do play get better for it. One focused game beats five you won’t remember tomorrow.

Can you track the money too?

Yes, and Riot is more open about that one. Your purchase history shows what you spent on RP, and our guide on how much money you spent on LoL walks through the steps. Seeing both numbers side by side usually stings (2,000 hours and $800 hits differently than either number alone).

Do TFT and Valorant count toward wasted time on LoL?

No. TFT runs on the same Riot account, but its games are separate from your League matches, so leave them out of the count unless you want a combined total.

Valorant? Different game, own stats.

When does a fresh start make more sense?

Once you see the number, you might start asking a different question: is this account still worth playing? If years of casual games left your MMR in a bad spot and every win feels like it pays too little LP, a new account is one way out. You can level one yourself, or look at our hand-leveled LoL accounts that start at level 30 and skip the grind to ranked.

How do you track your hours each season?

Write down your game count at the start and end of each LoL season and run both through the calculator. Real talk: that small habit tells you more than any lifetime total, because you see the trend. Two hundred hours in one split and eighty in the next usually means something changed, whether burnout, a new job or simply a better routine.

It works per champion too. Four hundred hours on one champion while stuck in the same rank? Maybe a new pick is worth a try. Whatever made you check, use your wasted on LoL number to decide how you play next, not to beat yourself up over it.

FAQ

How do I check how much time I wasted on LoL?

Enter your total games played in the calculator on this page and pick your main mode. It multiplies the games by the average match length for that mode and shows hours, days and months.

Where can I see how many games I have played?

Your profile in the League client shows games per season, so add the seasons up. Playtime tracker sites can also estimate a total from your match history.

How accurate is the calculator?

It is as accurate as your game count and the average match length for your mode. Queue time, champ select and loading screens are not included, so your real time in the client is higher.

What does “vs average player” mean?

It compares your total hours with a benchmark of 832 hours. 100% means you are right on it, 200% means twice as much.

Does the calculator need my Riot login?

No. It only uses the number you type in, runs in your browser and saves nothing.

Do TFT games count toward League playtime?

No. TFT games are separate from League matches, so add them only if you want a combined total.
