How to Sell Your LoL Account Safely

Selling a League of Legends account carries real risks. This guide covers the main options, what to watch for and how to avoid the most common problems. None of this is legal advice — read Riot’s terms yourself before you decide.

Where people sell LoL accounts

There are three broad channels. Each has trade-offs between price, speed and risk.

  1. Account marketplaces. Sites like PlayerAuctions, G2G or EpicNPC list accounts for a fee or commission. You set the price, a buyer finds you. The upside is reach: thousands of buyers browse these sites daily. The downside is time (a listing can sit for weeks), fees (5–15% on most platforms) and the risk of chargebacks or disputes that the marketplace may or may not resolve in your favour.
  2. Direct sale to a store. A store buys your account outright at a wholesale price and resells it. You get less than marketplace value, but the sale is faster, there is no listing, and you deal with one counterparty instead of a stranger. This is what AgataSmurf does when buying is open.
  3. Private sale. Discord servers, Reddit threads, forums. No fees, highest potential price — but also the highest risk. You have no platform protection if the buyer disputes the payment, recovers the account through Riot support, or simply disappears.

What makes a LoL account worth more

Buyers look at a short list of factors. Knowing them helps you set realistic expectations, no matter where you sell.

  • Server. NA and EUW accounts sell faster and for more than smaller regions. KR accounts are a special case: high demand, but transfer restrictions limit the buyer pool.
  • Rank. A Diamond or Master account is worth several times more than a Gold account on the same server. Unranked level-30 accounts have steady demand because ranked players buy them as secondary accounts.
  • Skins. Rare and legacy skins (PAX, Championship Riven 2012, Victorious skins from early seasons, Prestige editions) add real value. A large collection of standard skins adds some, but less per skin.
  • Champions. A full or near-full champion roster saves the buyer thousands of Blue Essence. It matters more on accounts that are otherwise unremarkable.
  • Account history. A clean history (no bans, no chat restrictions, high honour level) is worth more. Any past penalty lowers the price and makes some buyers walk away.

Our LoL account worth calculator gives a rough estimate based on these factors. The real price depends on who is buying and when.

Riot’s rules on selling accounts

The Riot Games Terms of Service say the account belongs to Riot and you agree not to sell or transfer it. In practice, Riot can suspend an account it finds has been sold. This applies to both sides — buyer and seller. No one can promise a sale is “100% safe”, and you should be cautious with anyone who does.

Many accounts are sold every day without incident, but the risk is not zero. If your account is your main and you are not ready to lose access to it permanently, think carefully before listing it anywhere.

How to avoid scams when selling

Most scams follow a few patterns. Knowing them ahead of time is the best defence.

  1. The chargeback. A buyer pays through a reversible method (PayPal goods and services, credit card), takes the login, then disputes the payment two weeks later. The platform sides with the buyer, and you lose both the account and the money. Avoid reversible payment methods for account sales.
  2. The fake middleman. Someone on Discord or a forum offers to “hold the money” during the trade. They take both the money and the account. Never use a middleman unless the escrow is built into a reputable marketplace.
  3. Account recovery after sale. You sell the account, change the email, and move on. The buyer (or someone who had access to the original email) contacts Riot support with the original registration details and recovers the account. To prevent this from the seller side: change the account email to the buyer’s email, remove your payment methods, and disable any multi-factor authentication tied to your devices before completing the handover.
  4. Lowball appraisals. A buyer or store quotes a price far below market to pressure you into a quick sale. Check prices on at least two marketplaces and use a calculator before agreeing to any offer.

Checklist before selling

Whether you sell through a marketplace, a store or privately, go through this list first.

  1. Check your account email — you need access to it for the handover.
  2. Remove saved payment methods from the Riot client store.
  3. Note your current rank, skin count, champion count and any rare items. Screenshots help.
  4. Check for active penalties (bans, restrictions, low priority queue) and be upfront about them.
  5. Decide on a realistic price. Use our account worth calculator as a starting point.
  6. Read the terms of whatever platform you use. Understand their dispute process and fees.

FAQ

Are you buying LoL accounts right now?

No. We are not buying at this time. The form on this page saves your details so we can contact you when buying opens.

Does the form ask for my login or password?

No. The form asks only for your server, rank, approximate skin count, email and data processing consent. We never ask for login credentials.

How much is my LoL account worth?

It depends on server, rank, skins, champions and account history. Our LoL account worth calculator gives a rough estimate. The actual selling price varies by platform and timing.

Is it safe to sell a LoL account?

It carries risk. Riot’s terms prohibit account transfers, and the account can be suspended if detected. Scams (chargebacks, fake middlemen, account recovery) are common in private sales. Using a reputable marketplace or dealing directly with an established store reduces but does not eliminate the risk.

What do I do if I already sold my account and the buyer recovered it?

If the buyer recovered the account through Riot support using the original registration email, you have limited options. This is why changing the account email to the buyer’s email during handover is essential. If you sold through a marketplace, file a dispute there. If it was a private sale, you may have no recourse.

Can I sell an account with a past ban?

A permanently banned account cannot be sold. An account with an expired temporary ban or chat restriction can be sold, but the history lowers its value. Disclose it upfront — buyers check.
