First time I saw Pumpkin Prince Amumu load in, my duo partner pinged question marks at me for ten seconds straight. Not because of the pick. Because the little guy showed up wearing a pumpkin crown and looking like he just walked out of the cutest haunted castle in Runeterra. Kinda feels like Riot knew exactly what they were doing pairing the saddest champion in the game with the most wholesome Halloween theme possible.

What Pumpkin Prince actually brings to the Rift

So this is a 1350 RP Epic skin, and it earns the tier honestly. Amumu gets a full model rework here. Gone are the bandages and sad mummy vibes. Instead you get this little pumpkin royalty fantasy with a tiny crown, a cape, and jack-o-lantern themed everything. The bandages are replaced with vines. Small detail but it changes how he reads in lane completely.

VFX are where this skin separates itself from the cheaper Amumu options. His Q shoots out a pumpkin vine tether that wraps around targets. Played maybe 200 games with this thing and the Q animation actually feels cleaner than base to me, though could be wrong here but the hitbox visually reads tighter. His W aura gets this orange-green particle effect, leaves swirling around him. Looks great in teamfights when you’re peeling for your ADC and the whole area around you glows autumn orange.

The E slam has pumpkin chunks flying out. Satisfying. His ult wraps enemies in vines with pumpkin particles on impact, and in a five-man engage it looks incredible. Been running this in Diamond during October every season since it dropped and its honestly my favorite Amumu ult visually. The recall animation is adorable too. He sits on a little pumpkin throne looking sad. Classic Amumu energy.

Voice lines stay base. No new VO, which is fine. The base Amumu voice is iconic enough that changing it would feel wrong anyway.

The Trick-or-Treat line and release context

Pumpkin Prince Amumu dropped October 22, 2020. Right before Halloween, obviously. David Villegas and West Studio handled the artwork, and they nailed the splash. The composition puts little prince Amumu front and center in this spooky castle setting with bats and candles. Phone wallpaper material honestly. (Random aside: I had this as my Discord avatar for like three months after release.)

Part of the Trick-or-Treat skinline, which is one of Riot’s seasonal Halloween collections. The line fits Amumu perfectly. He’s already got that spooky lonely energy, so dressing him up as pumpkin royalty just works thematically.

Legacy vault skin, so you cant just grab it whenever. Hextech only these days unless Riot brings it back around Halloween. Last Tuesday I checked the shop and nope, still vaulted. Typical seasonal rotation stuff.

9 chromas total. Obsidian goes hard if you want the edgy dark pumpkin look, turns the whole thing into a corrupted prince vibe. Rose Quartz is surprisingly clean, gives him this pastel pink that shouldnt work but does. Catseye pushes the golden harvest aesthetic further. Not gonna lie, the chroma variety here is solid for an Epic tier skin. Most of them feel distinct enough to justify existing.

Should you lock in Pumpkin Prince?

Real verdict: this is a top pick for Amumu mains. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX overhaul is noticeable, the model is clean, and the thematic is unique in his skin pool. Surprise Party Amumu has been the default recommendation for years but Pumpkin Prince gives it real competition.

Where it falls short is the lack of new voice lines. For an Epic at 1350 you’re getting everything else though. New particles on Q, W, E, R. New recall. Complete model change. That’s the standard package and this skin delivers it without cutting corners.

If you play Amumu support or jungle and you like seasonal skins, this is the one. Spammed this in Diamond last season 12 or so and it just hits different when you land a five-man Curse of the Sad Mummy and pumpkin vines wrap across the entire enemy comp. The only catch is the Legacy availability. You either have it already, roll it from chests, or wait for the Halloween shop rotation. Worth the wait if you main the sad boy. Skip it if Amumu is your autofill pick, but for one-tricks this is S-tier Amumu cosmetic territory.
