First time I saw Little Knight Amumu in a loading screen I think I actually smiled. Not something that happens often in Diamond lobbies at 1 AM on a Wednesday. The little dude already looks sad, slap some oversized armor on him and suddenly he’s the most endearing thing on the Rift. Been running this skin on and off since maybe season 4, and honestly its one of those skins that just stays in rotation because it feels right.
What actually changes on Little Knight Amumu
So this is a Standard tier skin at 750 RP. Temper expectations. You’re not getting new particles on Q or R, no fancy recall animation, no voice filter. Base voice lines, no changes. What you do get is a full model swap that puts Amumu in this tiny suit of medieval plate armor with a little helmet that barely fits his head. Adorable.
The color palette shifts from his usual green-brown wrappings to silver and blue steel tones. Could be wrong here but I think the shield on his back is the standout piece. It’s got this crest detail that reads well even zoomed out in a teamfight. The bandages poke out from under the armor which is a nice touch, keeps him recognizably Amumu.
No new VFX on Bandage Toss or Curse of the Sad Mummy. Your Q still looks the same, ult still looks the same. For 750 RP thats expected. The skin lives and dies on the model work alone. In my Diamond games the model reads clean against most map skins. Played maybe 200 games with this one across multiple seasons and never had a moment where I lost track of my character.
One thing I noticed specifically in bot lane river fights: the armor catches the ambient lighting differently than base Amumu. Subtle but it’s there. Gives him a slight shine during dragon contests that base skin doesn’t have.
The Medieval line and release context
Little Knight Amumu dropped July 18, 2011. Season 1 era. Ancient history. Katie ‘TeaTime’ De Sousa handled the artwork, and for a splash from that period it holds up better than most. Not gonna lie, a lot of 2011 splashes look rough by today’s standards but this one has charm.
Part of the Medieval skinline which is one of Riot’s smaller thematic sets. The Medieval line never got the massive expansion that something like PROJECT or Star Guardian did. Kinda feels like Riot tested the waters with a few knight and castle themed skins and then moved on. That scarcity actually works in the skin’s favor. Seen maybe 3 of these in my games all season. You lock in Little Knight Amumu and people notice because it’s uncommon.
No chromas available for this one. Zero. What you see is what you get. Shop has it permanently so you can grab it whenever. (Random aside: this skin predates most of the champion roster, which is wild to think about when you’re playing it alongside champs released in 2024.)
Should you buy Little Knight Amumu?
Real verdict: 750 RP feels fair for what you get. It’s a model-only swap on a champion where model swaps actually matter because Amumu’s silhouette is so distinct. The knight armor reads clearly, the theme fits his personality, and the Medieval fantasy gives him character beyond “sad mummy who cries on people.”
If you main Amumu in the jungle and you’re climbing through ranked, this is a solid pickup. Not the flashiest Amumu skin, that title goes to Surprise Party or maybe Sad Robot. But Little Knight Amumu has this understated quality. Simple change – huge impact on how the champion feels to play. Season 9 I think or 10 dont remember, I went on a 15 game win streak with this skin in solo queue. Coincidence probably. But I’m not risking it.
Skip it if you need new particles or a recall animation to justify spending RP. Worth 750 if you main Amumu and want something clean that nobody else runs. The Amumu skin if you can only own one on a budget.
