First time I saw Medieval Twitch in a loading screen I had to look it up because I genuinely thought it was a custom skin someone modded in. Back in season 3 or maybe 4, dont remember exactly. This thing has been around since December 15, 2009, making it one of the oldest Twitch skins in the game. And honestly it still holds up in a weird, charming way that most early skins just dont.
What Medieval Twitch actually changes
So this is a Standard tier skin with no new VFX, no new recall animation, and base voice lines stay the same. What you get is a full model swap. Twitch trades his usual sewer rat look for a medieval peasant getup. Think burlap tunic, a little hood, and a crossbow that looks like something out of a Renaissance faire booth. Rough edges everywhere.
The crossbow is the highlight for me. Chunky wooden thing with visible bolts. Feels right for the Medieval fantasy even if mechanically nothing changes about his Q stealth or his R spray down. Played maybe 200 games with this skin across multiple seasons and the auto attack animation reads clean enough in lane. No visual clutter. Not gonna lie, thats kind of a selling point when you’re trying to cs and track enemy cooldowns at the same time.
Could be wrong here but I think the color palette on this skin reads better on Summoner’s Rift than people give it credit for. The earthy browns and greens blend into the bot lane bushes in a way that feels thematic for an ambush ADC. Had a game last Friday where I got a triple kill coming out of stealth near dragon pit and my duo said he literally forgot I was there. Perfect Twitch gameplay.
The Medieval line and how you get this skin
Medieval Twitch sits in the Legacy pool now. Originally this was an honor reward skin, which is why the price tag reads as Special rather than a standard RP amount. Bo ‘chenbowow’ Chen handled the artwork, and considering this is a 2009 splash, the composition still works. Dark tavern lighting, Twitch lurking with that crossbow. Clean for the era.
The Medieval skinline is tiny. Not exactly a universe Riot invested heavily in. (Random aside: I keep hoping they revisit it with a full Medieval event someday, give us a Medieval Veigar or something.) Being a Legacy vault skin means you cant just grab it whenever. Hextech only these days or wait for a Legacy sale rotation.
Three chromas available now. Obsidian goes full dark mode and I think it looks better than the base honestly. Amethyst adds a purple tint that reads well against the Rift greens. Sapphire exists too but kinda feels redundant with some of Twitch’s other blue-toned skins.
Should you pick up Medieval Twitch?
Real verdict: this is a collector’s skin. Been maining Twitch on and off since season 5 and Medieval is the one I lock in when I want something low-key. No flashy particles, no distracting recall. Just a rat in a hood shooting bolts at the backline.
If you’re a Twitch one-trick looking to fill out the collection, its worth grabbing when it rotates back. The Special pricing means you might even snag it from a chest or reroll. For anyone climbing ranked and wants the cleanest read on abilities, this actually works because there’s zero visual noise competing with your gameplay. Kinda feels like Riot accidentally made a competitive-friendly skin by just not adding anything extra.
Skip it if you already own Omega Squad or Dragonslayer though. Those give you way more for the RP. But for the vibes, for the history, for pulling it out in a Diamond lobby at 2 AM and getting question mark pings in champ select – Medieval Twitch earns its spot. Top pick for Twitch mains who appreciate the OG catalog.
