First time I saw Vandal Twitch loading in was season 3 I think, maybe late season 2. Some random solo queue game around midnight and this dude locks in Twitch with the leather jacket splash and I remember thinking okay this rat means business. Played against it and honestly the skin stuck with me more than the game did. Fast forward to now and I still think it holds up for what it is. Not flashy. Not trying to be.
What Vandal Twitch actually changes
Real talk though, this is a texture swap and nothing more. Twitch trades his usual sewer rat aesthetic for a punk biker look. Leather vest, spiked collar, mohawk on his head. The crossbow gets a slight visual touch but we’re talking model-only changes here. No new VFX on any abilities. Your Q stealth shimmer looks the same, W cask is identical, E expunge has base particles, R spray and pray is unchanged. Base voice lines, no changes.
Kinda feels like Riot just threw a jacket on a rat and called it a day. But honestly? The character design works. The Vandal fantasy is punk rebels causing chaos, and Twitch fits that energy naturally. He’s already a chaotic little gremlin running around the Rift going invisible and melting backlines. Slap some leather on him and it just clicks.
The auto attack animations feel the same as base. No recall animation changes either since this dropped way before custom recalls were standard. Been running this in Diamond games occasionally when I want that old school vibe and nobody ever comments on it. Mostly because nobody sees it. Legacy vault skin, so encounters are rare. Seen maybe two other Vandal Twitch players in my games all season long.
The Vandal line and release context
Vandal Twitch released February 22, 2011. Early League. The Vandal skinline was one of Riot’s first thematic sets, putting champions in this biker gang rebel outfit. Vandal Brand, Vandal Gragas, Vandal Jax, Vandal Vladimir. Twitch fits the crew honestly better than some of the others. A plague rat in a punk gang? Makes sense.
Kan Liu handled the artwork. The splash captures the vibe, Twitch crouching with this menacing grin, crossbow ready, looking like he’s about to gank your bot lane from a dark alley. For 2011 splash standards its actually pretty solid. (Random aside: I used to have this as my desktop wallpaper back in college, no shame.)
975 RP is the price tag. Standard tier. Sits in the Legacy pool now so you cant just grab it from the shop whenever you want. You’re waiting for Legacy vault openings or rolling it from Hextech chests. Not gonna lie, that exclusivity bumps the cool factor a bit. When you see one in your game you know that player either been around forever or got lucky with a chest.
Should you care about Vandal Twitch?
Straight talk: if you main Twitch and want the best visual experience, this aint it. Dragonslayer, High Noon, even Crime City bring way more to the table with new particles and effects. Vandal Twitch is a nostalgia pick. A flex that says I been here since the early days or at least I appreciate what came before.
975 RP feels fair for what you get if it ever rotates back in. Could be wrong here but I think the Vandal line has a certain charm that newer skinlines try too hard to replicate. Simple concept, clean execution, no overloaded VFX cluttering your screen during teamfights. Had this in rotation for a couple weeks last month during a Twitch ADC grind and the simplicity was refreshing after spamming High Noon for ages.
Worth it for Twitch one-tricks who want variety in their collection. Skip it if you only own one Twitch skin and want maximum value. But if you’re the type who likes cycling through skins between ranked games, Vandal earns a spot. Old school League energy. No frills, just a rat in a leather jacket doing rat things in your lane.
