First time I saw Emumu in a loading screen I thought someone had modded their client. Just Amumu but more… sad? Which is saying something because Amumu is already the most depressed champion on the Rift. Been running this skin on and off since maybe season 3 or 4, honestly dont remember exactly when I picked it up. 520 RP and it just clicked for me.
What Emumu actually changes
Real talk though. This is a Standard tier skin so temper your expectations. You get a full model swap and thats about it. Amumu trades his usual bandaged mummy look for a straight-up emo kid aesthetic. Black hair hanging over his face, darker color palette, the whole early-2000s Hot Topic vibe. Base voice lines, no changes. No new VFX on Q, W, E, or R. Your Bandage Toss still looks the same, Despair still does the crying puddle thing, Tantrum is identical.
But here’s what I think makes it work: the model itself reads really clean in game. The dark tones pop against Summoner’s Rift, especially in the jungle where Amumu spends most of his time clearing camps. Not sure if it’s just me but I feel like the silhouette looks slightly sharper than base, probably just the hair adding visual weight to his head.
No new recall animation either. Standard stuff. You press B and Amumu does his usual thing. For 520 RP in 2010 that was completely expected. Skins at this price point were basically recolors or light model swaps, and Emumu falls into the model swap category which puts it above average for its price bracket.
The Goth line and where Emumu fits
Emumu belongs to the Goth skinline, which is one of Riot’s oldest thematic sets. Released August 1, 2010. Late season 1 era, back when the game was still figuring out what skins even meant. The Goth line is tiny and honestly pretty forgotten at this point. (Random aside: I kinda wish Riot would revisit the Goth theme with modern production quality, could be sick on someone like Viego or Vex.)
Shop has it. Permanent availability, so you can grab Emumu whenever. No vault rotation nonsense, no loot-only restrictions. Just 520 RP straight up.
No splash artist credited in the data for this one, which tracks for skins from that era. Riot wasnt exactly documenting their art pipeline back in 2010. The splash itself is simple. Amumu sitting alone looking miserable with the emo haircut. Gets the job done.
Should you pick up Emumu?
Okay, the real question. If you main Amumu and you want every skin in the collection, 520 RP feels fair for what you get. It’s not competing with Sad Robot or Surprise Party for the best Amumu skin, those have actual VFX changes and new animations. Emumu is playing a different game entirely.
What it does offer is personality. Spammed this in Diamond last season during a two-week Amumu phase where I was abusing his teamfight ult in low-coordination lobbies, and the emo aesthetic just added something to the experience. Landing a five-man Curse of the Sad Mummy with the little emo kid model felt oddly satisfying. Could be coping but I think the skin has charm that the numbers dont capture.
Might be overthinking it but Emumu hits a specific nostalgia frequency. If you were playing League around season 1 or 2, this skin represents an era. For newer players it probably looks dated, which is fair. The model holds up okay but it’s clearly from a different generation of skin design. Skip it if you want flashy. Lock it in if you appreciate the meme energy and the Goth skinline history. Best budget Amumu pick if Sad Robot’s 1350 price tag feels steep for a jungler you only pull out in specific comps.
