First time I saw Pharaoh Amumu in a loading screen I thought someone was running a custom skin mod. This thing dropped way back in February 2, 2010 and it shows its age in the best and worst ways. The mummy wrapped in Egyptian gold cloth with that little pharaoh headdress. Genuinely charming model for what it is.

What Pharaoh Amumu actually looks like in game

Real talk though, this is a texture swap and nothing more. No new VFX on Q, W, E, or R. Voice stays default. No recall animation changes. You get Amumu in a blue and gold Egyptian outfit with a pharaoh headpiece instead of bandages, and thats about the whole package. Standard tier skin through and through.

The model itself holds up surprisingly well for something from season 1. Gold accents on the headdress catch light in a way that reads cleanly on the Rift, especially in river fights around dragon pit. I played maybe 30 games with this skin last month when I pulled it from a chest and the silhouette is distinct enough that you notice it. Not sure if it’s just me but Amumu looks slightly less sad in this one. Like the pharaoh gig gave him purpose or something.

In teamfights your Curse of the Sad Mummy ult still uses the base green particles. Bandage Toss same deal. If you’re looking for flashy ability changes on Amumu, this isnt where you find them. But for 520 RP on an old skin, expecting new VFX would be unreasonable.

The Pharaoh skinline and where this fits

The Pharaoh line is one of Riot’s earliest thematic sets. Pharaoh Amumu sits alongside Pharaoh Nidalee and Pharaoh Nasus in the collection. All three dropped around the same era, season 1 stuff. Kinda feels like Riot was going through an Egyptian mythology phase before they had actual lore frameworks for skinlines.

520 RP is the asking price here. Legacy vault skin, so you cant just grab it from the shop whenever you want. Sits in the vault and comes out during special sales or you roll it from Hextech crafting. Been seeing fewer and fewer of these in my Diamond games honestly. Maybe two or three times all of season 14. (Random aside: the splash art is giving early 2000s browser game energy and I kind of love it for that.)

Voice pack is base only, Cristina Milizia’s performance carries through unchanged. No VO refresh on this one.

Should you buy Pharaoh Amumu?

Verdict time. If you main Amumu and you’re collecting every skin he has, Pharaoh Amumu is a nice piece of history. 520 RP feels fair for what you get. The Egyptian aesthetic works naturally on a champion who is literally wrapped in cloth already. Good thematic fit.

But if you’re choosing between this and something like Surprise Party Amumu or Sad Robot, those skins blow this one out of the water in terms of actual gameplay feel changes. Pharaoh Amumu is for the collector or the player who wants something clean and understated. Played this into a ranked game last Tuesday around midnight and my support asked me if it was a new skin. That’s how rare this thing is in the wild.

Skip it if you want VFX. Lock it in if you appreciate old school League cosmetics and you get lucky enough to find it in a chest or catch a Legacy sale. Hextech only these days. Honest opinion: solid budget Amumu skin, just dont expect it to compete with his newer options. For the Pharaoh line completionists though, worth every RP.
