Pharaoh Nidalee

First time I saw Pharaoh Nidalee in a loading screen I thought someone was running a custom skin. Not because it looked fake but because it felt so different from base Nidalee that my brain needed a second to register it. This was back in like season 2 or 3 I think, and it already looked clean for 520 RP. Been running it on and off ever since.

The Egyptian treatment on Nidalee

So at 520 RP you’re getting a model swap and texture changes. Thats about it. No new VFX, voice lines stay base, no fancy recall animation. Standard tier pricing, standard tier delivery. But the model itself does enough heavy lifting to justify the price tag in my opinion.

Nidalee gets a full Egyptian pharaoh outfit. Gold headdress, white and gold clothing, the whole ancient ruler look. Her cougar form matches the theme too which is something I appreciate because some older skins just forgot about the transform. The spear gets a redesign that fits the aesthetic. Kinda feels like Riot actually cared about making both forms cohesive even at this price point.

Not gonna lie, the textures show their age. This skin dropped January 10, 2011. Over fifteen years old at this point. The geometry is basic compared to anything released after season 5. But in actual gameplay, when you’re throwing spears in lane and jumping on people as cougar, the silhouette reads differently enough from base that it feels fresh. Played maybe 40 games with it last month during a Nidalee jungle phase and the gold tones pop against the Rift greenery.

No new particles on Q, W, E, or R. Your spear still looks like default Nidalee’s spear in flight. Heal is the same green circle. Pounce, swipe, takedown all unchanged. Voice pack is base only. For some players this is a dealbreaker but at 520 RP I dont think you can realistically expect particle work.

Pharaoh line and release context

Pharaoh Nidalee belongs to the Pharaoh skinline alongside Pharaoh Nasus and Pharaoh Amumu. The line leans into ancient Egyptian mythology, gold-heavy designs with that royal desert vibe. Nasus fits the theme most naturally because of his Anubis-like base design but Nidalee holds her own.

Released January 10, 2011. Early League days. The Rift looked completely different back then, the old Summoner’s Rift with the darker palette. (Random aside: I sometimes miss that old map lighting, everything felt more mysterious.) No splash artist credited in the data but the splash itself has that classic painted quality from early Riot art. Simple composition, Nidalee standing in Egyptian garb, cougar form lurking. Gets the job done.

Zero chromas available. Not surprising for a skin this old and this cheap. Riot rarely goes back to add chromas to 520 RP skins from 2011. Shop has it permanently so you can pick it up whenever.

Should you grab Pharaoh Nidalee for 520 RP?

Real verdict: if you main Nidalee and want variety in your skin rotation, 520 RP is basically nothing. Could be wrong here but I think this is one of the better budget Nidalee options. The Egyptian theme is unique enough that it stands apart from her other skins which lean more into jungle huntress or cosmic territory.

For Nidalee one-tricks specifically, you probably already own Headhunter or Dawnbringer and those are objectively more polished. But there’s something about locking in Pharaoh Nidalee in ranked at like 1 AM on a Tuesday that hits different. The skin has character. It’s old school League in a good way.

Skip it if you only play Nidalee occasionally. 520 RP well spent for mains, unnecessary for everyone else. Been spamming Nidalee in Diamond this split and I rotate between this and Cosmic Huntress depending on my mood. Pharaoh for the chill games, Cosmic for when I’m actually trying to climb. Simple as that.
