DWG Nidalee

Not gonna lie, when Riot announced Canyon’s pick for the 2020 Worlds skin I got genuinely excited. Nidalee jungle was the signature Canyon pick that year, the kind of lock-in that made you sit up in your chair during draft. DWG Nidalee dropped April 29, 2021 and I remember loading into a ranked game that same night just to see it on the Rift.

What the skin actually brings to Nidalee

So this is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP, which means new VFX and a new recall animation. Voice lines stay base, no changes there. The model swaps Nidalee into the DAMWON Gaming black and blue jersey aesthetic. Clean dark tones with electric blue accents running through the outfit. Cougar form gets the same treatment and honestly the cougar model looks better than human form here. Thats just my opinion but the blue highlights on the cat read really well against most map terrain.

The Q spear in human form has this sharp blue trail that feels satisfying to throw. Played maybe 40 games with this skin in Diamond last season and the spear visual is crisp enough that it doesnt mess with your aim the way some flashier skins do. W trap placement has subtle blue particles. Nothing crazy but you notice it. E heal gets a blue glow. Standard stuff for an esports skin.

Cougar form abilities all carry the blue VFX through. The pounce W feels snappy. R transformation has the DAMWON logo flash which is a nice touch if you’re into the esports branding. Could be wrong here but I think the cougar Q takedown animation has slightly different particles compared to base, the blue burst on the execute feels more visible.

The recall is the highlight. Canyon’s signature pose with the DAMWON trophy, standard Worlds skin formula but it works. Been running this in my jungle games since season 12 and the recall still hits. (Random aside: I use the recall to BM after stealing dragon, specifically this skin’s recall for maximum disrespect.)

The Worlds 2020 line and where this fits

Part of the World Champions: 2020 skinline celebrating DAMWON Gaming’s championship run. Jennifer Wuestling handled the artwork and the splash captures Canyon’s Nidalee fantasy perfectly. Dark background, cougar lurking, the blue energy tying it together. Real talk though, Canyon’s Nidalee was peak jungle gameplay that tournament. Three or four standout games where he just dismantled teams from the jungle with spear snipes and cougar dives pre-6.

One chroma available, the Elite variant. Deep navy with brighter blue accents. Looks cleaner than base if you want something slightly more subdued. Not a huge departure but worth grabbing if you already own the skin.

Legacy vault skin, so you cant just walk into the shop and buy it whenever. Sits in the vault and comes back during special events or you roll it from Hextech crafting. Season 11 I think when it first released, maybe late into the MSI window. If you see it available during a Worlds event rotation, thats your window.

Is DWG Nidalee worth 1350 RP?

Okay, the real question. For Nidalee mains who also follow pro play this skin is an easy pickup. The VFX are clean without being distracting, the model looks sharp in both forms, and it carries that Canyon legacy. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Standard Epic pricing, above-average execution for an esports skin.

Compared to something like Dawnbringer Nidalee or Cosmic Huntress, DWG Nidalee is more understated. Less visual noise. Some games last Tuesday around 1 AM I was clearing raptors and noticed how the blue Q particles just pop against the red buff area specifically. Small thing but it matters when you’re spamming jungle clears for 25 minutes.

Skip this if you dont care about esports skins or Canyon specifically. But if you main Nidalee jungle and you watched that 2020 Worlds run, this skin just hits different. Top pick for Nidalee mains who want something clean over flashy. The cougar form alone carries it. Might be overthinking it but I genuinely believe the spear hitbox feels more honest on this skin compared to some of the older Nidalee skins where the VFX dont match the actual projectile width. Placebo? Probably. Still feels good though.
