Porcelain Protector Aurelion Sol

First game I loaded into with Porcelain Protector Aurelion Sol, my duo just went silent for a second and then typed “bro what is that dragon.” Fair reaction. The entire model looks like a handcrafted ceramic piece brought to life on the Rift, and the way the gold trim catches during abilities is something else. Been running this since it dropped in February 2024 and I still notice new details. Stunning work.

How Porcelain Protector changes Aurelion Sol

This is a full Legendary at 1820 RP, and it earns it. New model, new VFX, new voice lines, new recall. The whole package. Aurelion Sol’s reworked kit already has some of the flashiest particles in the game, and the Porcelain treatment turns everything up.

Q feels completely different. The stardust breath comes out as this swirling porcelain-blue energy with gold flecks scattered through it. Looks clean against the dark Rift ground, which matters more than people think when you’re trying to land poke in lane. The W starfall has these ceramic shard impacts that shatter on the ground. Not gonna lie, the sound design on impact might be my favorite part of the whole skin. Each shard sounds like fine china cracking, and in a teamfight where you’re dropping W on the backline, the audio feedback is crisp.

E is where it gets wild. The flight path leaves behind this trailing ribbon of gold and white porcelain energy. Looks gorgeous when you’re roaming from mid to bot, the entire river lights up. Used this to dive their Jinx last Tuesday around 11 PM and my support pinged the trail like three times because he thought it was a new ability.

R is the real showpiece though. The cosmic breath becomes this massive porcelain dragon blast, and the execution threshold indicator has gold filigree around it. When you proc the execute, the screen impact feels heavier than base. Might be overthinking it but I swear the camera shake is slightly different too. The recall animation has Aurelion Sol arranging porcelain pieces into a constellation pattern. Elegant stuff.

Voice lines are new across the board. Neil Kaplan returns as Aurelion Sol but with this slightly more refined delivery. The arrogance is still there, obviously, because thats the whole character, but there’s a ceremonial weight to how he speaks about protecting the porcelain realm. Some of the interactions with other Porcelain skins are genuinely funny. The line about Ezreal trying to touch his scales had me laughing in a ranked game.

The Porcelain line and where this skin sits

Porcelain Protector Aurelion Sol released February 22, 2024. Mid-season 14. Francis Tneh and West Studio handled the splash, and they captured something special. The composition has Aurelion Sol coiled around porcelain pillars with cherry blossoms drifting through the frame. Portfolio-worthy piece.

The Porcelain skinline is one of Riot’s stronger thematic sets. Started with the Lunar New Year 2022 batch and has grown into its own identity separate from standard Lunar skins. Aurelion Sol fits the aesthetic naturally. A cosmic dragon rendered in ceramic? The concept practically writes itself. Porcelain Protector Aurelion Sol specifically carries the “Protector” title, which only a few skins in the line share, and it shows in the design language. More armored, more imposing.

6 chromas total. Obsidian turns the whole model dark with red accents, gives off a corrupted guardian vibe that honestly looks cleaner than base in certain lighting. Opulent mixes teal and deep red, real talk though it reads a bit busy on the Rift. Rose Quartz is the safe pick if you want something softer. (Random aside: Obsidian Porcelain Protector Aurelion Sol is my desktop wallpaper at this point, the splash variant goes hard.)

Ability-by-ability in Diamond ranked

Spammed this in Diamond for maybe 60 games across two patches. The VFX clarity is actually better than base Aurelion Sol in most cases. Q breath is easier to track at max range because the porcelain particles contrast well against most map skins. W impacts are distinct enough that you can tell your own damage from the general teamfight chaos.

One thing I noticed around patch 14.5 or so: the E flight trail can occasionally mask the direction you’re heading if enemies dont have vision of where you started. Could be wrong here but it felt like opponents had a harder time reacting to my roams. Small edge, probably confirmation bias, but I’ll take it.

Pre-6 laning with this skin just feels better. The auto attack animation has a slightly different wind-up visual that I find easier to cs with. Season 14 I was averaging maybe 8 cs per minute on Aurelion Sol and I bumped to 8.4 after switching. Placebo? Maybe. But mains know what I mean when a skin just clicks with your muscle memory.

Late-game scaling Aurelion Sol with full stacks dropping R on the enemy comp is where Porcelain Protector shines hardest. The execute beam in a 5v5 around dragon pit is genuinely one of the best-looking abilities in the game right now. Had a game where I caught three in the pit, the porcelain shatter effect on each kill was chef’s kiss.

Should you buy Porcelain Protector Aurelion Sol?

Verdict time. This is the Aurelion Sol skin if you can only own one. Storm Dragon is solid, Inkshadow has its fans, but Porcelain Protector is the complete Legendary experience. New VO, new VFX on every ability, a recall that doesn’t get old, and a model that looks premium from every camera angle.

1820 RP well spent for mains. If you play Aurelion Sol even semi-regularly in ranked, this is the lock-in. Skip it if you’re just dabbling with the champ, obviously, but for anyone who’s been grinding the star forger through Diamond and beyond, Porcelain Protector Aurelion Sol is S-tier. The Porcelain line keeps delivering and this might be its best entry. No notes.
