First game I loaded into with Porcelain Protector Ezreal, my support pinged the skin three times in fountain. Not sure if it’s just me but there’s something about this one that just commands attention on the Rift. The whole porcelain ceramic aesthetic translates way better onto Ezreal than I expected when the teasers dropped back in January 2022. Played maybe 40 games with it that first week alone and the novelty still hasnt worn off seasons later.
How Porcelain Protector Ezreal actually plays
This is a full Legendary skin at 1820 RP, so you get the complete package. New model, new VFX on every ability, new voice lines performed by Daniel Amerman, new recall animation, new animations across the board. The Q is the standout for me. Mystic Shot fires this porcelain shard projectile with a trailing blue-white energy that reads crisp against every map skin. Landing poke in lane with it feels satisfying in a way thats hard to describe.
W marks targets with this elegant circular porcelain seal. Clean visual. When you proc it with Q or E the detonation has these ceramic fracture particles that scatter outward. Gorgeous effect. The E blink leaves behind porcelain shards at both the origin and destination points, which actually helps your opponents track the dash less intuitively than base Ezreal. Small competitive edge there, maybe placebo, but I swear my Diamond games went smoother with the visual clutter working in my favor.
The ult is where Riot went hard. Trueshot Barrage fires this massive porcelain dragon projectile across the map. The travel animation has layered ceramic textures with gold trim details you only notice when you slow it down. Been sniping backline ADCs from bot lane to mid with this thing and the kill feels premium every time. (Random aside: I once ulted a recalling Katarina from fountain and the dragon projectile looked like it was chasing her through the minimap. Peak League moment.)
Voice lines deserve their own mention. Full new VO with this confident, slightly cocky protector persona. Ezreal already has personality for days but the Porcelain lines lean into the guardian fantasy. Interactions with other Porcelain skins exist too. The voice filter keeps his natural tone but adds this subtle reverb that sells the mystical protector angle without going overboard.
The Porcelain line and where this skin fits
Porcelain dropped January 26, 2022. Lunar New Year themed set, and Riot knocked it out that year. Edward Chee and West Studio handled the splash art, they captured the dynamic pose with the porcelain dragon companion perfectly. The color palette is this white-blue-gold combination that reads “expensive” immediately.
The Porcelain skinline pulled in Lux, Kindred, Lissandra, and others across multiple releases. Ezreal’s Legendary version sits at the top of the original batch. Kinda feels like Riot designed the whole line around his silhouette and then adapted it for the others. The thematic coherence is tight.
6 chromas total if you want variety. Tanzanite is my personal pick, the deep purple recolor makes the porcelain elements pop against a darker base. Golden Tiger hits different for the Lunar New Year crowd, full gold and jade energy. Rose Quartz softens everything into a pink tone that honestly looks cleaner than I expected. The rest are solid but those three carry the chroma lineup for me. Could be wrong here but I think Tanzanite alone justifies grabbing the chroma bundle.
Shop has it permanently. No vault nonsense, no loot-only restrictions. Walk into the store and grab it whenever.
Comparing Porcelain Protector Ezreal to the competition
Ezreal has one of the deepest skin pools in the game. Star Guardian, Battle Academia, PsyOps, Pajama Guardian if you’re feeling brave. The question with any new Ezreal skin is always whether it justifies a slot when you already own three or four.
Real talk though. Porcelain Protector Ezreal earns its Legendary price. The ability VFX are distinct enough that your Q and R feel like different spells compared to base. The VO adds genuine personality. Compare that to something like Frosted Ezreal where you’re basically paying for a recolor. Not even close. Against other Legendaries in his catalog, I think this one trades blows with Star Guardian depending on your aesthetic preference. Star Guardian leans anime, Porcelain leans mythological. Both execute at a high level.
Had a ranked session last Friday around midnight where I alternated between this and Battle Academia for like 8 games. Kept coming back to Porcelain. The auto attack animations feel smoother, the Q particle is easier to track for spacing in lane, and the recall animation with the porcelain dragon curling around Ezreal is genuinely one of the best recalls in the game. Small things that add up over a long session of spamming games.
Should you buy it?
1820 RP feels fair for what you get. Full Legendary package with VFX, VO, recall, and a model that stands out in teamfights without being visually noisy. Been daily driving this skin since season 12 and it still holds up against newer releases. Might be overthinking it but I think the porcelain aesthetic ages better than most thematic skins because the clean lines and muted palette dont rely on trendy visual gimmicks.
If you main Ezreal or even just have him in your ADC rotation for climbing, Porcelain Protector Ezreal is the skin. Top pick for Ezreal mains. The chromas give it legs for variety, the splash is wallpaper quality, and the in-game feel is premium from laning phase through late-game teamfights. Skip it only if you genuinely prefer the Star Guardian fantasy, otherwise this is the one to lock in. (Sidebar for Ezreal one-tricks specifically: the Tanzanite chroma Q particles in a dark river fight are chef’s kiss levels of visual clarity.)
Simple recommendation – if you cs on Ezreal more than twice a week in ranked, you want this skin in your collection.
