First time I saw Frosted Ezreal was back in season 1 when half the lobby had no idea what they were doing and the other half pretended they did. Locked it in purely because the blue tones looked clean on the loading screen. Played maybe 40 games with it that first month. Not gonna lie, for a 520 RP skin from 2010 it still holds up better than some skins twice its price.
What Frosted Ezreal actually changes
So this is a Standard tier skin. Texture and model swap, thats it. No new particles on Q, no fancy W trail, no updated E animation. Ezreal gets a cool ice-themed outfit with white and blue tones replacing his usual explorer getup. The gauntlet has a frosty blue glow that reads well in lane. Simple change – huge impact on the silhouette.
Voice lines stay base. No recall animation changes either. You’re getting exactly what 520 RP buys you in 2010 terms: a solid recolor with some model adjustments. The fur-lined hood and the icy color palette give Ezreal this Freljord explorer vibe that fits the fantasy perfectly. Been running this in ARAM when I dont want to flex a Legendary and honestly it does the job.
The Q skillshot looks the same as base but against the blue outfit it kinda feels like it blends into the champion model more. Could be wrong here but I think the auto attack animations read slightly different with the gauntlet model change. Nothing confirmed, just how it feels after spamming it in Diamond last season around February. The base Ezreal animations carry this skin because his kit is flashy enough on its own. You’re not buying this for VFX.
Freljord line and release context
Frosted Ezreal dropped July 18, 2010. Ancient by League standards. Part of the Freljord skinline which bundles a bunch of ice-themed skins across the roster. Yan Li handled the artwork on the splash, they captured the cold aesthetic without overcomplicating it. The splash shows Ezreal charging up a shot in some frozen wasteland. Clean composition for its era.
There’s 1 chroma available, the Paragon variant. Deep purple and teal color scheme that honestly looks solid if you want something different from the base ice blue. (Random aside: the Paragon chroma on budget skins is one of those things Riot does that nobody talks about but I appreciate.) Available any time in the shop at 520 RP which is basically nothing. Two games worth of event tokens if you think about it.
The Freljord line itself is one of Riot’s older thematic groups. Frosted Ezreal sits alongside skins like Frost Queen Janna and Glacial Malphite. Not the most cohesive skinline compared to modern stuff like Coven or Spirit Blossom but it has that classic League charm. Real talk though, for anyone climbing ranked on Ezreal and wanting a skin that doesn’t distract, this is a sleeper pick.
Should you buy Frosted Ezreal?
Verdict time. 520 RP feels fair for what you get. You’re not getting new VFX or a fancy recall or updated voice. You’re getting a clean ice-themed Ezreal that looks good in game and doesn’t cost you a lunch. Skip this if you already own Star Guardian or Battle Academia because those are in a different league entirely. But if you main Ezreal and want a no-frills skin for your collection, Frosted is honest value.
Might be overthinking it but I think budget skins like this have a certain appeal in ranked. Last Tuesday I had a teammate compliment the skin in champ select which never happens with common skins. Ezreal one-tricks who’ve been around since early seasons probably already own this. For newer players poke-laning with Ezreal in bot, 520 RP well spent for mains. Not the best Ezreal skin full stop, but for the price point it earns its spot in the rotation.
