Been running Tundra Hunter Warwick on and off since maybe season 3 or 4, cant remember exactly. First impression back then was simple: Warwick in arctic hunter gear, fur-lined armor, icy color palette. Nothing flashy. But something about the rugged look just clicked for me, especially during those late night ranked sessions where you want a skin that feels grounded.
What Tundra Hunter actually changes
This is a 520 RP Standard tier skin so keep expectations realistic. You get a full model swap. Warwick trades his default grey-purple beast look for a frost-covered predator wrapped in tundra pelts and bone-white armor plating. The fur textures read well in game, especially from the top-down camera angle where you spend 99% of your time.
There’s VFX adjustments here which is honestly surprising for a skin at this price point. Not gonna lie, most 520 skins from this era got nothing beyond the model change. The icy tint on his abilities gives the whole kit a colder feel. His Q bite and R suppress both carry that frostbitten vibe. Subtle stuff but it matters when you’re ganking bot lane at level 6 and everything just looks cohesive.
Voice lines stay base. No new recall animation either, which tracks for 2010-era skins. Standard voice, no new lines. Back then Riot wasnt doing custom recalls on anything below Legendary so thats expected. The auto attack animations feel identical to default. Playing this skin, the model is really doing all the heavy lifting and it does enough.
The Freljord connection and release history
Tundra Hunter Warwick dropped August 15, 2010. Early days. Season 1 territory. Jessica ‘OwleyCat’ Oyhenart handled the artwork and the splash captures the frozen wasteland hunter aesthetic perfectly. Warwick crouching in snow, ready to pounce. Clean composition.
Part of the Freljord skinline which ties Warwick into the broader frozen north fantasy. The Freljord line has some bangers across different champs but Tundra Hunter keeps it understated. No over-the-top ice crystal effects or blizzard particles. Just a wolf hunter adapted to the cold. Kinda feels like what Warwick would actually look like if he lived in the Freljord instead of Zaun.
(Random sidebar: this splash was my desktop wallpaper for like two months back in season 5. The composition is that clean for a skin this old.)
No chromas available for Tundra Hunter Warwick. Would have been cool to see an Obsidian variant or something darker but Riot hasn’t touched this one since release. Fair enough.
Should you pick up Tundra Hunter Warwick?
Real verdict: 520 RP feels fair for what you get. If you main Warwick and want variety in your skin rotation without dropping 1350+ on something like PROJECT or Old God, Tundra Hunter is a solid budget pick. I had this locked in for maybe 30 games last season in Diamond and got zero complaints from myself about the visual clarity.
Could be wrong here but I think this is one of the better cheap Warwick skins. Feral and Hyena compete at similar price points but Tundra Hunter has a cleaner silhouette in teamfights. The white-blue palette stands out against Summoner’s Rift green without being distracting. Had a game last Thursday where I ulted their Jinx from fog of war and the frost-tinted suppression animation actually looked sick from my duo’s perspective.
Shop has it. Permanent availability so no vault stress. Not the flashiest Warwick skin by any measure but sometimes you dont need flash. Sometimes you just need a cold-blooded predator with good fur textures and a 520 RP price tag. Worth it if you main Warwick. Skip it if you already own three or four of his skins and need to be picky about the collection. Simple as that.
