PROJECT Warwick

First game I played with PROJECT Warwick I ganked bot lane at level 3 and the enemy Jinx typed “what is that thing” in all chat. Fair reaction. The skin turns Warwick into this cybernetic predator covered in neon orange circuitry and jagged metal plating, and honestly the transformation from base model werewolf to futuristic hunter-killer hits harder than most Epic skins manage. Been running this as my main Warwick skin since around season 10 and I keep coming back to it.

How PROJECT Warwick plays different

The VFX overhaul is where Riot put the work in. Warwick’s Q lunge gets this sharp digital slash effect, clean orange particle trail that reads well in teamfights. His W blood trail? Replaced with a circuit-board tracking line on the ground. Looks sick in the jungle especially. Could be wrong here but I think the W indicator is actually slightly easier to read on this skin compared to base, though that might just be the color contrast.

E fear has these hexagonal shield fragments that pop up around Warwick. Nice touch. The R is the real showpiece though. Warwick launches forward with a full cyber-trail behind him and the impact zone lights up with PROJECT grid lines. Played maybe 200 games with this skin and the ult still feels satisfying every single time. The recall animation is new too, Warwick does this whole system reboot sequence crouched down with data streams flowing into him. Short but clean.

Voice lines stay base, no VO refresh. Kinda feels like a missed opportunity for a skin this detailed but at 1350 RP thats the standard. The sound effects on abilities are modified though, more metallic and techy. His howl on W activation has this digital reverb layered over it.

The PROJECT line and release context

PROJECT Warwick dropped August 1, 2019. Late into the PROJECT batch that year alongside Pyke, Akali, Irelia, and Jinx if I remember right. Stacked lineup. The PROJECT skinline is one of Riot’s longest running themes at this point and Warwick fits it naturally. Cybernetic augmentation on a champion who’s already half-machine in his base lore? Makes sense.

No splash artist credited in the data for this one. The splash itself is solid though, Warwick mid-leap through some neon-lit cityscape with his claws out. (Random aside: I used this as my Discord avatar for like six months straight.) The orange and black color scheme reads well at thumbnail size which matters for the loading screen.

9 chromas available total. Obsidian is my go-to, the dark colorway makes the ability VFX pop harder against the model. Reckoning has this aggressive orange-on-teal that looks premium, almost like a separate skin. Amethyst works too if you want something that stands out in the jungle clear. Not gonna lie, having 9 options for one skin is generous for an Epic tier.

Is PROJECT Warwick worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: for Warwick mains this is an easy buy. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on every ability, solid recall, good model work. The competition in Warwick’s skin pool is honestly not that deep. Old God Warwick goes for a different vibe entirely, and Lunar Guardian is fine but dated. PROJECT sits comfortably as the best modern option if you want something clean and aggressive.

I remember one ranked game last season around 1 AM where I was hard carrying on Warwick jungle with this skin and my support asked me to send them the skin name. That kind of thing doesnt happen with forgettable cosmetics. Shop has it permanently, no vault nonsense. If you play Warwick in any capacity, jungle or the occasional top lane counterpick, this skin earns the price. Skip it only if you’re saving for a Legendary on another champion. For Warwick specifically this is S-tier.
