Been maining Ashe with this skin since season 6 and I think it might still be the single best ADC skin Riot has ever shipped. Not gonna lie, the first time I loaded into a game with PROJECT: Ashe back in August 2016 I sat in fountain for a solid ten seconds just watching the idle animation. The whole cyberpunk hunter fantasy hits different when you’re used to base Ashe’s medieval archer vibe. Complete overhaul. New model, new particles, new voice, new recall. Full Legendary treatment at 1820 RP and it earns every point.
What PROJECT: Ashe actually changes
So the big thing here is the bow. It’s not even really a bow anymore. More like a hard-light projection that assembles itself, and the auto attack animations got reworked to match. Each arrow fires with this sharp cyan trail that reads super clean against the Rift. Played maybe 200 games with this skin across multiple seasons and the auto attacks genuinely feel smoother. Could be placebo but I swear the animation cancels land better.
Q is where it gets ridiculous. Ranger’s Focus turns the bow into rapid-fire mode and the projectiles shift into this concentrated beam pattern. Looks aggressive. Feels aggressive. The W volley fans out with these geometric light shards instead of the usual spread, and theres a slight digital distortion on impact that I still notice after years of playing it.
E is probably the subtlest change but still clean. Hawkshot launches this drone-like scanner across the map instead of a bird. Fits the tech theme perfectly. The vision reveal has a hex-grid overlay that fades out. Small detail but it sells the fantasy.
R though. Enchanted Crystal Arrow. The ult fires this massive energy projectile with a glowing core and trailing particles. When it connects across the map on some poor Kayn trying to invade your jungle at 2 AM on a Tuesday night, the impact VFX alone makes the play feel ten times better. The stun visual has circuit-board patterns that spread from the target. Honestly one of the best ult animations in the game still, even after all these years.
The recall animation deserves its own mention. Ashe constructs a hard-light throne, sits down, crosses her legs. Cold. Calculated. Perfect for after you ace a teamfight and want to flex before backing. I have literally stood in base spamming recall just to show it off in ARAM.
Voice, release, and the PROJECT line
Melissa Hutchison handled the voice work and she killed it. PROJECT: Ashe has a full new VO with a colder, more detached tone. Fits the augmented soldier aesthetic the PROJECT skinline goes for. She sounds like someone who’s been running ops on the Rift for decades, not a Freljord queen. The voice processing adds just enough digital edge without making it hard to understand. Some PROJECT skins overdo the filter but this one nailed the balance.
Kelly Aleshire on the splash, they cooked. The composition with Ashe in that angular pose against the neon cityscape backdrop is still one of the better splashes in the entire PROJECT catalog. Released August 1, 2016, right in the middle of that big PROJECT wave with Yi, Ekko, and Katarina. Ashe was the Legendary of the batch and it showed. Riot clearly poured extra budget into this one.
The PROJECT skinline as a whole is one of Riot’s most consistent themes. Cyberpunk augmented warriors, clean geometric VFX, that signature orange-and-cyan color palette. PROJECT: Ashe leans harder into the cyan and white which sets her apart from the warmer tones on PROJECT: Yasuo or PROJECT: Zed. Kinda feels like she’s the ice-type variant of the line, which tracks given her champion identity.
(Random aside: the PROJECT: Ashe loading screen art was my desktop wallpaper for like two years straight. Only replaced it when Coven dropped.)
There’s 1 chroma available, the Mythic Chroma. Shifts the color scheme into gold and deep red territory. Hard to get since it’s a Mythic drop but if you manage to roll it the contrast against the default cyan is pretty striking. Not essential but a nice flex if you have it.
Is PROJECT: Ashe worth 1820 RP?
Real verdict: this is S-tier Ashe cosmetic. Maybe I’m biased after six seasons of using it but I keep coming back to PROJECT: Ashe over every other option in her lineup. Cosmic Queen is gorgeous. Coven is solid. But PROJECT just has that gameplay feel that none of the others match for me. The auto attacks, the Q steroid visual, the ult across the map. Everything reads clearly and everything feels impactful.
Full Legendary price, earns it. Shop has it permanently so no vault anxiety. If you play Ashe in ranked with any regularity this is the skin. Been spamming this in Diamond bot lane since it dropped and I still dont get tired of the VFX. Season 9 I think I had a 200 game stretch where I refused to use anything else on her.
Fair warning, if you’re someone who prefers the fantasy archer vibe over sci-fi, this might not click. It’s a complete departure from base Ashe’s identity. But if you want your ADC to feel like a cyberpunk operative picking apart the backline in teamfights, PROJECT: Ashe is the pick. Not sure if it’s just me but the skin genuinely makes laning phase more fun. Something about those clean autos while you’re trying to cs under tower just feels right.
Skip the other 975 RP options. Save for this. The only Ashe skin worth caring about if you can only own one.
