Played old Warwick back in season 1 and Firefang was the skin that made me actually want to lock him in. Something about flaming wolf aesthetic just hit right for 2011. Not gonna lie, it still holds up better than you’d expect for a skin this old.
What Firefang actually brings to the table
So this is a Standard tier skin at 975 RP, which means you’re not getting a full VFX overhaul or anything crazy. But Firefang Warwick does get new visual effects, and for 975 that’s honestly solid. The fire particles on Warwick’s abilities give his kit this aggressive feel that base just doesnt have. His Q lunge gets a flame trail, and his R suppress lights up with this orange-red burst that reads clean in teamfights.
No new voice lines here. Voice stays default. But the model change carries most of the weight anyway. Warwick’s fur takes on this dark charcoal tone with molten cracks running through his body, like he’s been living inside a volcano. The jaw and claws glow with embers. Simple change – huge impact on how threatening he looks charging down the bot lane at you.
The splash by Xi Zhang captures the vibe perfectly. Warwick mid-lunge, fire everywhere, teeth bared. Classic 2011 energy. Been using it as my client background for Warwick since maybe season 4 or 5, cant remember exactly.
The Infernal connection and where it sits historically
Firefang Warwick dropped March 29, 2011. Early League days. Part of the Infernal skinline, which Riot has expanded massively since then. Infernal Nasus, Infernal Diana, Infernal Shen – the line grew into one of the bigger thematic sets. Firefang was one of the first entries though, back when Riot wasnt even consistent about naming conventions. They called it “Firefang” instead of “Infernal Warwick” which I think actually works better. More personality in the name.
(Random aside: the Infernal line has like 15+ skins now and Firefang still looks more natural than half of them. Warwick just fits the fire wolf fantasy better than most champions fit their Infernal variant.)
No chromas on this one. Zero. Which tracks for a 2011 release since chromas werent a thing until years later. Kinda wish Riot would retroactively add some but I get why they dont bother with older Standard skins.
Should you grab Firefang Warwick?
Real verdict: for 975 RP this is a clean pickup if you play Warwick at all. Shop has it, permanent availability, no vault nonsense. Spammed this in Diamond during the Warwick rework era around early 2017 and the updated model made Firefang look even better than the original version. Riot kept the fire theme intact through the rework which was not guaranteed.
Could be wrong here but I think Firefang Warwick is the best budget option for Warwick mains. Project and Old God exist at higher price points and yeah they’re flashier, but Firefang at 975 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX add enough to make jungle clears and ganking feel distinct from base. Locked this skin in for maybe 30 games last Tuesday night through Wednesday morning and it still felt good. Clean auto animations, fire particles that dont clutter your screen during a dive.
If you’re climbing with Warwick this season and want something that looks aggressive without dropping Legendary money, Firefang is the pick. Worth 975 if you main Warwick. Not the fanciest thing in his wardrobe but it earned its spot in the rotation years ago and I keep coming back to it.
