First time I locked in Infernal Diana was back in season 6, maybe a week after it dropped. Played three ranked games in a row that night and something about the fire particles on her passive just clicked. Not sure if it’s just me but the way the flames trail off her crescent blade mid-teamfight makes tracking your autos way easier than base Diana. Could be placebo. Probably is. Still felt cleaner though.
What actually changes with Infernal Diana
So this is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP, which means you get the full treatment: new VFX across the board plus a unique recall animation. Voice lines stay base, no new VO here. The model swap puts Diana in this dark armor with molten cracks running through it, glowing orange-red like she’s been standing in dragon pit too long.
Her Q, Crescent Strike, throws out a burning arc instead of the usual pale moonlight. Solid visual clarity honestly. The W shield orbs turn into these orbiting fireballs that pop on contact. Looks aggressive. Feels aggressive. Her E pull-in gets fire particles on the edges, and when you proc your passive the cleave effect leaves this brief scorch mark on the ground. Small detail but I noticed it around game fifteen or so.
The R is where the skin earns its price. Moonfall drags everyone in with this eruption of flame and cinders. In a five-man engage during a late-game teamfight last season, the screen just lit up orange. My duo said it looked like I ulted inside a volcano. Fair description. The recall has Diana plunging her blade into the ground and pulling up a column of fire around her. Quick, clean, no wasted frames. Been daily driving this for months in Diamond and the animations never got old.
One thing I noticed playing maybe 40 games with it: the auto attack animations feel slightly different in cadence. They’re not, technically. Checked the wiki. But the fire trail on each swing gives better visual feedback for jungle clear especially. Kinda feels like you can time your passive procs more naturally. (Random aside: I use this skin exclusively when I’m jungling Diana, switch to Lunar Goddess for mid.)
The Infernal line and where Diana fits
Released April 20, 2016. Mid season 6. Yan Li nailed the splash for this one, the composition with Diana descending through flames while her blade catches the light is genuinely one of the better Infernal pieces in the whole skinline.
The Infernal line is one of Riot’s oldest thematic sets and it shows in both good and bad ways. Good: the fire theme is universal, reads well on any champion. Bad: some of the older Infernal skins look dated. Diana’s version holds up because she released later in the line’s lifecycle when Riot had better particle tech to work with. Compared to like Infernal Nasus or Infernal Mordekaiser, Diana’s VFX have more depth. Layers of ember and ash instead of flat orange overlays.
No chromas on this one. Zero. Which honestly surprised me when I went to check last Tuesday around midnight. Most Epic skins from that era eventually got chroma packs but Diana’s Infernal never did. Might be overthinking it but I think Riot just moved on to her newer skins before circling back. Standard voice, no new lines. Nicole Oliver’s base VO works fine with the theme though, the cold conviction in Diana’s voice contrasts the fire visuals in a way that actually works.
Is Infernal Diana worth 1350 RP?
Real verdict: if you main Diana and you dont already own Dark Cosmic or Sentinel, this is a strong pickup. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX are clean, the model holds up seven years later, and the recall animation is satisfying without being obnoxious. Shop has it, permanent availability, no vault nonsense.
Where it falls short compared to her Legendary or newer options is the lack of new voice lines and no chromas to personalize. For a one-trick Diana player climbing through ranked, you’ll eventually want something with more variety. But as a skin you rotate in for jungle games or when you want that aggressive fire aesthetic in lane? Top three Diana skin easy.
Real talk though, the competition in Diana’s skin catalog is stiff now. Blood Moon, Dark Waters, Dragonslayer, Battle Queen, the whole Heavenscale thing. Infernal sits in this comfortable mid-tier where its not the flashiest but its reliable. Think of it like a consistent ADC player on your team: never gonna hard carry the lobby but never gonna int either. Been spamming this in Diamond for two seasons on and off and I keep coming back to it. That says something. Worth 1350 if you main Diana, skip it if you’re just looking for one skin and already have Battle Queen or Dark Cosmic.
