First time I saw Sentinel Diana load into my game I had to double-take. The golden armor, the light-infused crescent blade, the whole righteous warrior aesthetic. Felt completely different from every other Diana skin I’d used. Been maining Diana on and off since season 7 and this one immediately clicked for me in a way Dark Waters never did. Something about the warm palette just reads cleaner on the Rift, especially in teamfights where you need to track your Q arc through a mess of particles.
What Sentinel Diana actually brings to the table
So this is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP, meaning you get new VFX and a new recall animation. Voice lines stay base, no changes there. The VFX are the star here. Her Q sends out a crescent of golden light instead of the usual silver-blue, and it genuinely feels easier to track. Could be wrong here but I think the hitbox visual actually matches the real hitbox better than base Diana’s Q does.
Her W shields pop with these bright Sentinel light orbs circling around her. Clean. The E pull-in gets a golden flash that looks satisfying when you land it on the backline. R is where it gets good though. The moonfall ult has this radiant burst effect, golden light spreading outward when you dive in. Played maybe 40 games with this skin the week it dropped and the ult VFX never got old.
The recall animation fits the Sentinels of Light fantasy. Diana channels light through her blade, kneeling in this warrior pose. Not the flashiest recall I’ve seen but it works for the theme. (Random aside: my duo partner thought it was a Leona skin the first time he saw the recall, which honestly says something about how far they pushed the light aesthetic on a moon champion.)
No new VO which is fine. Nicole Oliver’s base voice lines dont clash with the Sentinel look, the serious tone carries over naturally.
The Sentinels of Light event and release context
Sentinel Diana released July 8, 2021 during the massive Sentinels of Light event. Season 11. That was the Ruination storyline where half the roster got Sentinel or Ruined skins. Alex ‘alexplank’ Flores nailed the splash, Diana standing battle-ready with the Sentinel weapon glowing in her grip.
The Sentinels of Light line was one of Riot’s bigger thematic pushes. Vayne, Irelia, Graves, Riven, Rengar, Pyke all got Sentinel skins in the same patch cycle. Diana fit the narrative well since her whole lore is about finding purpose through a higher calling. Real talk though, some of those Sentinel skins felt rushed but Diana’s wasnt one of them.
9 chromas available for this one. Resolute is my pick, the black and crimson combination gives it this dark Sentinel vibe that contrasts hard with the base golden look. Pearl goes in the opposite direction, almost ethereal white that reads like a prestige version. Tanzanite pulls a deep purple that honestly fits Diana’s lunar identity better than the base Sentinel colors do. Rest are solid but those three stood out across my games last season around November.
Should you buy Sentinel Diana?
Straight talk: Sentinel Diana sits in a weird spot because Diana has a stacked skin catalog. Battle Queen exists. Dark Cosmic exists. Heavenscale exists. But Sentinel holds its own for a couple reasons.
First, the VFX clarity. In Diamond games where you’re diving into 3-4 people and need to proc your passive while tracking cooldowns, the golden particles are genuinely easier on the eyes than some of her darker skins. Not sure if it’s just me but I play noticeably better with brighter skin VFX on engage champions.
1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX overhaul is thorough, the splash is gorgeous, and 9 chromas give you flexibility. If you main Diana and want something that looks premium without dropping Legendary money, this is a strong choice. Shop has it permanently so no rush. Been running this in ranked for two splits now and I keep coming back to it over skins that cost more. Skip it only if you already own Battle Queen or Dark Cosmic, those are the real competitors here. For everyone else grinding Diana in solo queue, Sentinel is the practical pick. Good VFX, fair price, clean design. That ranked game last Tuesday where I went 12/3 on Diana? Sentinel skin. Might be superstition but I’m not changing it.
