Hyena Warwick

First time I saw Hyena Warwick loading in, I thought somebody was trolling. The hunched posture, the weird grin, the whole unhinged look. Took this into a ranked game around season 3 I think, and my bot lane pinged question marks on my lock-in. Fair enough. But after maybe 40 games with it that month I realized this skin just has personality that base Warwick cant touch.

What Hyena Warwick actually brings to the table

So for a 975 RP Standard tier skin released back in 2011, Riot actually put in more work than you’d expect. New VFX on his abilities give the whole kit a dirtier, more feral feel. The particles arent dramatic or flashy. Subtle changes. But they fit the scrapyard predator vibe perfectly.

The recall animation is the highlight for me honestly. Warwick goes full unhinged with this manic laughing thing that sells the hyena fantasy hard. Not gonna lie, I’ve spam recalled in lane just to tilt the enemy top laner. Works more often than it should. Last Tuesday I had a Darius all-in me level 2 because he was sick of hearing it. Free kill.

Voice lines stay base, no new VO here. Kinda feels like that’s the one thing holding it back from being a perfect budget skin. The base Warwick voice works fine with the theme though, so it’s not a dealbreaker. His Q lunges look slightly different with the adjusted particles, and the W blood trail keeps that grimy aesthetic going. R is where you really notice it mid-teamfight: the suppression feels more violent with Hyena’s animations.

Model changes are where Road Warrior energy kicks in. Warwick’s got this makeshift armor, strapped-together metal plates, goggles pushed up on his forehead. The whole silhouette reads “post-apocalyptic junkyard wolf” and honestly it works. Been running this as my secondary Warwick skin for years now. Spammed this in Diamond during a jungle-only grind last season and the skin just feels right for aggressive early ganking.

Road Warrior line and release context

Hyena Warwick dropped December 5, 2011. Early days. Riot was still figuring out what skins could be and this one landed in the Road Warrior skinline, which is basically their Mad Max tribute collection. Izzy Medrano handled the artwork and they captured that feral energy in the splash. Warwick crouched low, ready to pounce, scrap metal everywhere.

The Road Warrior line doesn’t get talked about much these days. Most people forget it exists. But Hyena Warwick is probably the best representative of that theme (random aside: the splash has been my Discord avatar for like two years and nobody has ever recognized the skin). Shop has it permanently, 975 RP, no vault rotation drama.

Should you pick up Hyena Warwick?

Real verdict: if you play Warwick jungle regularly, this is one of those skins that punches above its price class. 975 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX, a solid recall, and a model that actually tells a story. Could be wrong here but I think it’s aged better than some of Warwick’s more expensive options.

The competition in his skin pool is real though. PROJECT Warwick exists, Old God Warwick exists. Those are objectively more loaded skins. But Hyena has charm. It’s the skin you pick when you want Warwick to feel unhinged instead of polished. Top pick for Warwick mains who like the scrappy, feral fantasy over the high-production stuff. Been daily driving it on and off since season 6 and I keep coming back. Skip it if you only care about flashy particles, but if you want a skin with actual character for under 1000 RP, Hyena Warwick delivers.
