Ruthless Pantheon

First time I saw Ruthless Pantheon loading in was maybe season 3 or 4, cant remember exactly. Some top laner on the enemy team locked it in and I had to double-take because it looked like Pantheon raided a Mad Max set. Bare chest, spiked shoulder pads, mohawk helmet. The whole vibe screams “I’m diving your backline and I don’t care what happens after.”

What Ruthless Pantheon actually changes

Real talk though. This is a 520 RP Standard tier skin from 2010, so set expectations accordingly. You get a new model and texture swap. That’s it. No new VFX, no new animations, voice lines stay base. The Q still looks the same, W still has the default stun particles, E shield is unchanged. Your ult drops with the same circle indicator and impact.

But the model itself? Actually kind of sick for what it is. Pantheon loses the traditional Spartan warrior look and goes full post-apocalyptic gladiator. The armor is stripped down to bare essentials: leather straps, metal studs, exposed arms. His shield gets this rougher, more beaten-up texture. The spear looks crude, more like something forged in a junkyard than a proper weapon.

(Random aside: this skin pairs weirdly well with the Pantheon rework visuals from 2019. The model got updated when they redid him and it looks way better than the original version ever did.)

Not gonna lie, for a skin with zero particle changes, the silhouette alone does enough. In lane you look distinctly different from base Pantheon, which at 520 RP is honestly all you can ask for. Been running this occasionally in my Diamond games when I want that old-school flex. Voice pack is base only, standard for this price point.

The Road Warrior line and release history

Ruthless Pantheon dropped August 8, 2010. Pre-season 1 era. Choe HeonHwa did the splash, and for the time period it holds up. The color palette is muted browns and grays which fits the Road Warrior skinline perfectly.

Road Warrior is one of those older Riot skinlines that never really expanded into a huge roster. Kinda feels like they had the Mad Max inspiration, slapped it on a few champions, and moved on. Pantheon fits the theme naturally though. Spartan warrior turned wasteland brawler isn’t a big stretch.

Ruthless Pantheon sits in the Legacy vault now. You won’t find it in the regular shop rotation. Hextech only these days, or maybe during one of those Legacy sales Riot runs around events. I think I picked mine up from a chest back in season 9 or 10 dont remember. Could be wrong here but I believe it occasionally shows up during Your Shop offers too.

No chromas available for this one. Not surprising given the age and tier. Most 520 RP Legacy skins never got the chroma treatment.

Should you care about Ruthless Pantheon?

Verdict time. At 520 RP this skin is cheap for a reason: minimal changes, no new effects, no recall animation. But the model swap genuinely looks good post-rework. If you’re a Pantheon main climbing through ranked and you get this from a chest, absolutely use it. There’s something about the stripped-down aesthetic that fits his aggressive engage playstyle. You W into a teamfight looking like a wasteland raider. Good energy.

That said, if you’re spending RP on purpose, Dragonslayer and Ashen Conqueror Pantheon exist. Those give you actual VFX changes and new particles on every ability. Ruthless Pantheon is more of a collector piece at this point. I had a buddy last Tuesday ask me which Pantheon skin to buy and I told him to skip this unless he already had the better ones covered. 520 RP is pocket change but there’s better value in the Pantheon catalog.

For the nostalgia factor and the Road Warrior aesthetic though? Solid. Simple change – huge impact on how Pantheon reads on the Rift. Just don’t expect it to compete with his Legendary or Epic options. Legacy vault skin, cool model, zero frills. Sometimes thats enough.
