First game I played with Pulsefire Pantheon was around 3 AM on a Wednesday, queued up for a Diamond ranked game and immediately noticed the model looked cleaner than I expected. Not gonna lie, Pantheon skins can be hit or miss because his base post-rework is already strong. But this one holds up. The time-travel soldier aesthetic works way better on him than it has any right to.
How Pulsefire Pantheon actually looks in game
The armor is full sci-fi plating with glowing blue energy lines running through it. Clean silhouette. Pantheon’s shield gets this hexagonal tech overlay that reads really well in teamfights when you’re diving the backline. His spear has a pulse-energy tip that lights up during Q charges, and honestly thats one of the best small details on the skin.
New VFX across the board here. His Q poke in lane has this blue energy trail instead of the standard golden glow. W engage lights up with a temporal rift effect on impact. E shield wall gets the full Pulsefire treatment with hextech panels materializing. The ult is where it really shows though. Grand Starfall drops Pantheon through what looks like a time portal, blue and white energy rippling outward on landing. Been running this in my Diamond games for a couple seasons now and the R animation still looks satisfying every time.
No new voice lines. Base VO. Kinda feels like a missed opportunity since the Pulsefire theme has so much lore potential, but for an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP thats pretty standard. The new recall animation makes up for it a bit. Pantheon does this whole temporal calibration sequence with his spear. Worth watching once.
Could be wrong here but I think the auto attack animations feel slightly smoother with this skin. Might be placebo. Either way the visual feedback on empowered W proc is crisp, and in a fast engage comp where you need to lock-in your combo quickly, the particles read cleanly against most Rift backgrounds.
The Pulsefire line and release context
Pulsefire Pantheon dropped May 14, 2020. Mid season 10. The Pulsefire skinline is one of Riot’s older sci-fi themes going back to Pulsefire Ezreal in 2012, but the 2020 batch brought it back with updated visual standards. Pantheon fits the time-warrior concept naturally since the champion already has that Spartan discipline energy.
Zhong Yang and Kudos Productions handled the splash art. They cooked. The splash shows Pantheon mid-leap through a temporal rift, spear charged with blue energy, and it captures the skin’s vibe perfectly. (Random aside: this splash rotated as my desktop background for like four months straight.)
8 chromas total. Obsidian is the standout for me, turns the whole suit dark with minimal glow lines and it reads like a stealth operative version. Chrono is interesting too, navy and crimson color scheme that gives off a different faction vibe entirely. Pearl goes white and clean but I think it loses some of the contrast that makes the base pop. Permanent shop availability, grab it whenever.
Worth the 1350 RP?
So is it worth it? For Pantheon mains, yeah. Solid pick. The VFX upgrades carry the skin hard, especially the ult and Q particles. At 1350 RP its standard Epic pricing and Pulsefire Pantheon earns it. Not the absolute best Pantheon skin if you have access to Ashen Conqueror, but its comfortably second or third depending on your taste.
Been maining Pantheon with this skin on and off since season 10 and I keep coming back to it. Last Tuesday I had a game where I ulted into dragon pit, landed on their Jinx and Lulu, and the blue explosion VFX just looked perfect in the chaos. Real talk though, if you only play Pantheon as a counterpick in lane and dont one-trick him, you could skip this and be fine. But for anyone who regularly locks in Pantheon for ranked, spams him top or mid or even support, 1350 RP feels fair for what you get.
The Pulsefire line ages well visually. Season 9 or 10 I think, those skins still hold up compared to newer releases. Pantheon specifically benefits because the geometric VFX match his kit’s sharp animations. Good skin. Not legendary-tier impact but a reliable Epic that does its job.
