Myrmidon Pantheon

First time I saw Myrmidon Pantheon in a loading screen I thought someone was running a custom skin. The red and gold armor just looked different from anything else Pantheon had at the time. Been playing this game since season 2 and this skin still catches my eye in champ select. Not the flashiest option for Pantheon mains but theres something about it that keeps pulling me back.

What Myrmidon Pantheon actually changes

So this is a Standard tier skin at 520 RP, which means you’re getting a model and texture swap. No new VFX on Q, W, E, or R. No new recall animation. Voice lines stay base. George Georgiou’s voice acting carries Pantheon hard regardless of the skin so that’s fine.

The armor goes from Pantheon’s default Rakkor bronze into this deep crimson and gold scheme. Kinda feels like Riot was going for a Greek soldier vibe, which makes sense given the name. Myrmidons were Achilles’ warriors in the Iliad, so the historical reference actually lands here. The shield gets a darker finish and the spear has gold trim that reads well in lane.

Played maybe 200 games with this skin across multiple seasons and the color palette holds up in teamfights. Red pops against the Rift’s green tones so your W engages are visually clean for your team. Not that your ADC is watching anyway. The helmet design is probably the strongest element – it has this aggressive forward-leaning crest that makes Pantheon look like he’s about to dive the backline even when he’s just farming cs under tower.

No new particles on the ult landing though, which at 520 RP nobody expects. Simple change – big visual shift. For a skin this old and this cheap the model work does enough.

The Wonders of the World line and release context

Myrmidon Pantheon dropped February 2, 2010. Season 1 era. League was a completely different game back then, pre-6 ganking wasnt even a defined concept yet and most people were still figuring out what jungle clear meant. Zeen Chin did the splash and honestly the art holds up better than some skins released three years later.

Part of the Wonders of the World skinline which is one of those early Riot thematic collections. The Wonders of the World line pulled from historical and mythological references. Pantheon fit naturally since his entire champion identity is built around Spartan and Greek warrior archetypes. Not sure if it’s just me but I think this skinline deserved more entries than it got.

No chromas available for Myrmidon Pantheon. Zero. Which is a shame because I think a dark blue or black variant would go hard. (Random aside: I’ve had this splash as my ranked profile background for two seasons straight and nobody has ever commented on it.) Available any time in the shop at 520 RP so you dont need to wait for any vault rotation or event.

Should you pick up Myrmidon Pantheon?

Real verdict: at 520 RP this is one of the better value skins for Pantheon. Been maining Pantheon with this skin on and off since around season 9 I think or 10 dont remember exactly. Last Tuesday I locked in Myrmidon for a Diamond ranked game and my support pinged it like three times. People notice it because almost nobody runs this skin anymore. Seen maybe 5 of these in my games all season.

The competition is steep though. Dragonslayer exists. Pulsefire exists. Ashen Conqueror exists. If you’re climbing with Pantheon and want the absolute best visual experience those skins deliver more. But if you want something clean that doesn’t scream “I spent 1820 RP on a top laner” then Myrmidon is the pick. 520 RP feels fair for what you get.

Could be wrong here but I think this is underrated in the Pantheon skin lineup. It’s not the best Pantheon skin full stop, that probably goes to Ashen Conqueror or Ruined depending on who you ask. But for pure aesthetic and the price point? Myrmidon Pantheon earns its spot in rotation. Skip it if you already own three Pantheon skins. Lock it in if this is your first one beyond default and you want to poke in lane looking like an actual ancient warrior.
