Been running Malphite on and off since season 2 and Shamrock Malphite is one of those skins that just sticks around in your collection. Not because its flashy or because it reinvents the champion. It sticks around because it’s a giant green rock and honestly thats kind of funny every time you lock it in. First game I used this was maybe 2014, cant remember the exact patch, but I do remember my duo asking why my Malphite looked like a Lucky Charms mascot. Fair question.
Green rock, green particles
So what does 520 RP actually get you here? Malphite turns green. Full stop. The model swap gives him this mossy, shamrock-tinted stone look that reads pretty clean on the Rift. The texture work is basic by modern standards but for a 2010 skin it holds up better than you’d expect. Could be wrong here but I think the green actually makes his silhouette slightly harder to track in river fights, especially around dragon pit. Placebo? Probably. Still feels real in the moment though.
The VFX got a touch-up at some point. His Q ground slam and his R unstoppable force both carry a green tint now. Nothing dramatic. Simple change – huge impact on the skin feeling like it belongs in 2026. His W and E read a little greener too but honestly in a teamfight you’re not going to notice the difference between base particles and these. You’re too busy watching the enemy backline panic when a full AP Malphite R lands on three squishies.
Voice lines stay base. No new recall animation either. Standard voice, no new lines. For a 520 RP Standard tier skin released March 16, 2010, nobody should expect Legendary treatment here. You get a recolor with slight VFX adjustments and that’s the deal.
The Wonders of the World skinline and some history
Shamrock Malphite sits in the Wonders of the World skinline, which is one of Riot’s older thematic groupings. Not gonna lie, the skinline name sounds grander than what the skin delivers. But the concept works: Malphite as a chunk of Irish countryside, covered in clovers. Released back in March 2010, this is ancient by League standards. Pre-season 1. The game looked completely different.
(Random aside: I used this skin in an ARAM last Tuesday around 11 PM and got three compliments from strangers. ARAM players notice old skins more than ranked players do, I swear.)
No chromas available for this one. Legacy vault skin, so you cant just walk into the shop and buy it whenever. You either need to catch it during a vault rotation or roll it from Hextech chests. Seen maybe 4 of these across my Diamond games all season, which makes sense given the availability situation.
Should you care about Shamrock Malphite?
Real verdict: this is a collector skin. Not a flex skin. If you main Malphite and you’re climbing with him in ranked, you probably want Mecha or Dark Star for the visual clarity and modern polish. Shamrock Malphite is the skin you equip when you’re playing norms with friends on a Friday night and want to make someone laugh in champ select.
520 RP feels fair for what you get. Green rock. Green particles. Legacy status means it has some rarity value. The Wonders of the World line isnt exactly Riot’s most popular but Shamrock Malphite has charm that carries it. Kinda feels like one of those skins Riot would never make today, which gives it personality. If you’re a Malphite one-trick with disposable Hextech gems, roll for it. If you’re looking for the best Malphite skin to peel for your ADC or dive the enemy comp with, look elsewhere. This one’s for the vibes and the vibes only.
