First time I saw Festival Queen Anivia in the loading screen I thought someone modded a carnival float into the game. Bright feathers, gold trim, the whole nine yards. Been an Anivia main across multiple seasons and this one caught me off guard when it dropped back in February 2017. Not gonna lie, the splash alone almost sold me before I even loaded into a game.

The visual glow-up on Festival Queen

So what actually changes here. Anivia gets a full carnival queen makeover with vibrant plumage, a headdress that looks straight out of Rio, and gold accents across the wings and body. The color palette swaps from icy blues to warm golds, deep purples, and bright teals. Massive departure from base Anivia.

The new VFX are where this skin earns its 975 RP honestly. Q sends out this burst of colorful feather particles instead of the usual ice chunk. Feels different to land, in a good way. W wall still functions the same but gets the festival color treatment. E projectile has a warm golden trail that reads cleanly against the Rift, which matters when you’re trying to proc the double damage off your stun in a teamfight. R zone trades the blizzard aesthetic for this swirling celebration circle on the ground. Played maybe 40 games with it last month and the R circle is actually easier to track in chaotic fights compared to some of her other skins.

The recall animation is a highlight. Anivia does this little dance number that fits the festival theme perfectly. Short and sweet. Voice lines stay base, no changes there, which is expected at this price point.

Kinda feels like Riot put more effort into the VFX than they needed to for a Standard tier skin. The particle work competes with some 1350 skins from the same era. Could be wrong here but I think this was Riot testing the waters with the Wonders of the World skinline concept.

Where Festival Queen fits in the lineup

Released February 23, 2017. Bo ‘chenbowow’ Chen did the splash and they captured the vibe perfectly. That splash has Anivia mid-flight with the carnival energy radiating off every feather. Its actually my second favorite Anivia splash behind Blackfrost.

The Wonders of the World line is a smaller skinline from Riot. Festival Queen Anivia represents the carnival aesthetic within that collection. The skinline didnt get a massive roster but Festival Queen stands on its own. No chromas available for this one, which is a shame because I think a darker color variant would have gone hard.

(Random aside: I used this skin’s egg form as my Discord avatar for like three months straight because the passive egg looks ridiculous with the festival colors.)

Still in the shop at 975 RP. Permanent availability so no rush to grab it.

Should you pick up Festival Queen Anivia?

Real verdict: for 975 RP this is solid value. The new VFX carry the skin and the recall animation adds personality that base Anivia just doesnt have. If you’re an Anivia one-trick climbing through ranked, you probably already own Blackfrost or Divine Phoenix as your main rotation skin. Festival Queen slots in as the fun pick for normals or when you want something lighter.

Best thing about it is the Q and R particles. Genuinely clean. Last Tuesday I hit a four-man Q in dragon pit and my premade thought it was a different ability entirely because of the particle colors. That kind of visual freshness keeps a champion feeling new after hundreds of games.

Skip this if you only want one Anivia skin and can afford Legendary pricing. But if you main her and want variety in your rotation, 975 RP feels fair for what you get. The Wonders of the World theme gives Anivia a personality she doesn’t get from any other skin in her catalog. Been running this in Diamond on and off since season 7 and I keep coming back to it when I get tired of the darker themed skins.
