First time I saw Papercraft Anivia load into my game I thought someone was running a custom skin. The whole origami concept looked too clean to be real. Been maining Anivia on and off since season 5 and this one immediately felt different from every other option in her lineup. Not sure if it’s just me but the folded paper aesthetic actually makes her model read better on the Rift than most of her skins.

The origami bird in action

Everything about Papercraft Anivia screams attention to detail. The model is fully reworked into this crisp paper-fold style where Anivia’s wings have visible creases and geometric edges. Played maybe 40 games with this the week it dropped, and the thing that stood out most was the Q. The Flash Frost projectile becomes this little folded paper ball that tumbles through the air. Clean.

Her W wall is where it gets interesting. The Crystallize wall pops up as paper panels, almost like someone set up a cardboard divider across the lane. Looks great when you’re cutting off a gank path through river. The E, Frostbite, fires off with paper particle effects that shatter on impact. Satisfying proc animation honestly.

R is the big one for me. Glacial Storm on the ground keeps that paper texture and the particles floating up look like torn confetti. In teamfights around dragon pit last season I had an enemy Zed straight up walk into it because I think the visual is slightly less obvious than base Anivia ult. Could be wrong here but I swear the hitbox reads differently with this skin. (Random aside: my duo partner called this skin “arts and crafts Anivia” and now I cant unhear it.)

The recall animation is the highlight though. Anivia folds herself up into a paper crane. Thats it. Simple concept, perfect execution. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but for an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP you’re getting new VFX and the recall which is the standard package.

Papercraft line and the details

Papercraft Anivia released February 21, 2019. Maki Planas Mata nailed the splash art. The illustration captures the whole origami fantasy with Anivia mid-flight, paper textures visible across every feather. The Papercraft skinline also includes Nunu and a couple others but Anivia fits the theme the most naturally. A bird made of folded paper just works conceptually.

8 chromas total for this one. Obsidian is my go-to, the dark paper look gives Anivia this menacing crow vibe that reads way better in lane than you’d expect. Tanzanite hits hard too with the deep purple, kinda feels like a different skin entirely. Rainbow is the wildcard pick, been seeing it more in my Diamond games lately and it pops against the Summoner’s Rift greens. The rest are solid but those three carry the chroma set.

Shop has it. Permanent availability so no vault stress. The Papercraft line wasnt the biggest release Riot ever did but its aged well. Season 9 launch window if I remember right, around the time Sylas came out. February 2019 was a weird patch cycle but this skin slid in without much hype and quietly became one of the better Anivia options.

Worth locking in at 1350 RP?

Real verdict: Papercraft Anivia sits in that sweet spot where its unique enough to feel special but not so over the top that it distracts you from cs-ing. Been running this as my main Anivia skin since around late season 12 and I keep coming back to it over Blackfrost. The VFX are clean, the model is distinctive, the recall is genuinely fun.

If you’re an Anivia one-trick this is a must-own. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The origami concept is one of those rare cases where Riot picked a theme that actually enhances the champion fantasy. A cryophoenix made of paper sounds dumb on paper (pun intended) but in practice it just works. Real talk though, if you only play Anivia occasionally and already have Blackfrost or Divine Phoenix you can probably skip it. But for mains? Top pick for Anivia mains, especially with the Obsidian chroma.

Biggest complaint is that the egg passive doesnt get a unique paper egg model. Might be overthinking it but a crumpled paper ball egg would have been perfect. Minor thing. Still one of the better Epic skins in the game and easily top three Anivia cosmetics. Spammed this in Diamond for two straight months around January last year and never got tired of looking at it.
