Divine Phoenix Anivia

First game I played with Divine Phoenix Anivia was a ranked match around 1 AM on a Tuesday, season 11. Locked it in immediately after buying the bundle and my support typed “nice bird” in chat before minions even spawned. Honestly not gonna lie, the skin hit different from the loading screen alone. The whole phoenix rebirth concept just works for Anivia in a way that feels almost too obvious, like Riot should have done this years ago.

How the VFX actually look in game

New particles across the board. Q sends out this golden feathered projectile that reads way cleaner than base Anivia’s ice chunk. The stun detonation has these warm ember particles that scatter outward. Pretty satisfying to land on a diving jungler.

W wall gets the golden treatment too. Instead of ice crystals you get this radiant barrier with phoenix feather motifs woven in. Not a huge gameplay difference obviously but it feels more imposing when you drop it during a teamfight to peel for your ADC. The R blizzard zone shifts to this swirling golden storm with fire particles mixed in. Kinda feels like standing inside a divine windstorm. Enemy backline has a harder time ignoring it visually which I think actually helps with zone control in a weird psychological way.

E is where the skin shines hardest. The frostbite projectile becomes this blazing phoenix feather that tracks toward the target. When it procs the double damage on a chilled enemy the impact effect is clean. Been running this in Diamond for a while and the E animation feels slightly snappier, though thats probably placebo.

Recall animation is new. Anivia goes through this rebirth sequence with golden flames. Fits the phoenix theme perfectly. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is standard for a 1350 RP Epic tier skin. Could be wrong here but I think the auto attack particles also got a slight golden tint compared to default.

The Phoenixmancers line and release context

Divine Phoenix Anivia dropped September 2, 2021. Late into season 11 right before Worlds hype started building. David Villegas and West Studio handled the artwork, and they cooked on this one. The splash captures Anivia mid-resurrection with golden wings spread wide against a celestial backdrop. (Random aside: this splash was my desktop wallpaper for like three months straight.)

Part of the Phoenixmancers skinline. Not the biggest line Riot has put out but the divine aesthetic works. Anivia is a natural fit since her passive is literally a rebirth egg. The thematic connection carries weight here compared to some skinlines where the champion just gets slotted in for sales numbers.

9 chromas total which is generous. Obsidian is my go-to because the dark phoenix look with black and gold reads aggressive on the Rift. Amethyst hits a mage fantasy angle with deep purple tones that feel regal. Golden Tiger is the standout though, the green and gold combo gives off a completely different energy from base. I rotate between those three depending on my mood in champ select. Rest are fine but those three cover the range you’d want.

Is Divine Phoenix Anivia worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on every ability, solid recall, clean splash art. No new voice lines but that’s expected at this price point. Still in the shop whenever you want it.

For Anivia mains specifically this competes with Blackfrost for best skin. Blackfrost has the Legendary treatment with new VO but Divine Phoenix Anivia has a warmer color palette that stands out more in lane. Been maining Anivia with this skin for maybe 150 games across two seasons and I keep coming back to it over the other options. Pre-6 laning phase the golden Q is easier for me to track personally.

Skip it if you dont play Anivia at all. But if she’s in your champion pool even as a secondary mid pick, this is the one to grab. Top pick for Anivia mains who want something that feels premium without paying Legendary price. The Phoenixmancers fantasy just lands right on a champion built around rebirth. Simple concept, strong execution.
