Not gonna lie, this skin caught me off guard the first time I saw it loading in. You queue up expecting the usual ice bird and instead theres Anivia decked out like she’s about to compete in some frozen Olympics event. Released back on February 12, 2010, this is old school League we’re talking about. Pre-season 1 territory. The game looked completely different back then, and Team Spirit Anivia carries that early Riot energy in every pixel.
What the skin actually changes
Real talk though. This is a 520 RP Standard tier skin from 2010, so temper expectations. You get a model swap and that’s the package. Anivia trades her default icy blue palette for red, white, and blue coloring. Think national team jersey vibes but on a giant cryophoenix. The wings pick up the color scheme hard, and the body has this sporty feel that reads surprisingly clean in game despite the age.
No new VFX on the Q stun, no updated W wall, no fancy R blizzard particles. Base voice lines, no changes. Everything ability-wise stays default Anivia. Played maybe 200 games with this skin across multiple seasons and honestly the lack of VFX changes never bothered me much. When you’re laning mid and trying to land that Q through a minion wave, the base particles do the job fine. The model swap alone carries enough personality that you dont feel like you’re running stock.
(Random aside: the egg passive with this color scheme looks hilarious, like a painted Easter egg sitting in the middle of a teamfight.)
Winter Sports and the Legacy vault
Team Spirit Anivia belongs to the Winter Sports skinline. Riot dropped a handful of sports-themed skins way back in early 2010. The line never got the love that something like Worlds or Star Guardian did, but it has that novelty factor going for it.
This one sits in the Legacy pool now. Hextech only these days unless Riot opens the vault for some seasonal event. I pulled mine from a chest around season 9 I think or 10 dont remember. Could be wrong here but I believe it shows up occasionally during winter sales. Either way, you can’t just walk into the shop and grab it whenever you want.
520 RP is the listed price for when it is available. Dirt cheap by modern standards. No splash artist credited in the data, which tracks for skins from this era. Riot’s art team was tiny back then. The splash itself is functional, shows the color scheme clearly, but it’s not winning any awards next to something like Divine Phoenix Anivia.
Should you pick up Team Spirit Anivia?
Straight talk: this is a collector’s skin. Pure and simple. If you main Anivia and want every skin in the set, Team Spirit scratches that completionist itch. Been maining Anivia with this equipped during late night ranked sessions last Tuesday around 2 AM just for the vintage feel. Something about running a 2010 skin in modern Diamond lobbies hits different.
But if you’re looking for the best Anivia skin to daily drive? Skip this. Blackfrost, Divine Phoenix, Cosmic Flight all offer way more for the money. Team Spirit Anivia is a time capsule. A fun one. 520 RP well spent for mains who want the full collection, but don’t expect it to compete with Anivia’s Legendary or Epic options. The Winter Sports line is a piece of League history and kinda feels like wearing a vintage jersey. You’re not buying performance, you’re buying nostalgia.
