Winter Sports Skins
All 8 skins in the Winter Sports skinline. Browse splash art, chromas, and detailed reviews for every Winter Sports skin in League of Legends.
Winter Sports is one of those skinlines that hits different if you were actually playing League back in 2010. Riot dropped the whole set around the Vancouver Olympics and it shows. Hockey sticks, curling stones, toboggans. The entire vibe is this goofy winter athletics theme slapped onto champions who have zero business being on ice. Not gonna lie, I still lock in a couple of these in ranked just to mess with people in champ select. The line has 8 skins total and most of them sit in that early League aesthetic where texture work was rough but the concept carried hard.

What Makes Winter Sports Stand Out
Okay so the thing about Winter Sports is that it doesnt try to be serious. At all. This isn't Coven or Eclipse where Riot's art team spent months on lore connections and thematic consistency. Winter Sports is literally "what if these champions played in the Winter Olympics." That's it. And honestly? It works better than half the tryhard skinlines that came after.
The visual signature here is straightforward. Snow and ice color palettes, athletic gear replacing armor, sport equipment as weapons. Veigar has a curling stone. Jax swings a hockey stick. Corki rides a toboggan instead of his plane. There's no shared VFX language across the line because this was 2010 League. Most of these skins are pure model swaps with zero particle changes. Base spell effects on almost every one.
What ties them together is the commitment to the bit. Every champion in the roster got reimagined as a specific winter sport athlete. Not just "slap some snow on it" like Snow Day did years later. Each skin references an actual discipline. Curling, hockey, bobsled, figure skating vibes on some of them. The splash arts are dated by modern standards but they capture that early Riot energy where the team was clearly having fun.
Compared to something like Snowdown Showdown or Winterblessed, Winter Sports feels way more grounded. No magical ice powers. No frozen kingdoms. Just sports. Kinda feels like Riot wouldn't make this line today because it's too simple for their current skin pipeline. (Random thought but imagine a 2024 version with Legendary tier and custom animations for every sport. Would print money.)
The color work across all 8 skins leans into national flag colors and athletic uniform palettes rather than the typical blue-white ice scheme. Union Jack Fiddlesticks literally wears the British flag. Vancouver Amumu rocks Canadian red. It gives each skin its own identity even within the shared theme.
Best Winter Sports Skins
Ice Toboggan Corki. Full stop. The only Legendary in the line and it earns the 1820 RP price tag, at least by 2010 standards. Corki's plane becomes a toboggan, the model work is clean for the era, and it's one of those legacy Legendaries that you almost never see on the Rift anymore. Been playing since season 2 and I think I've spotted maybe 4 or 5 Ice Toboggan Corkis total in all my games. That rarity factor alone makes it hit harder when someone locks it in. Could be wrong here but I think it got new voice processing back when it launched, which was a big deal for Legendaries at the time.
The Mighty Jax is iconic for completely different reasons. Jax with a hockey stick. That's the whole pitch and it's perfect. The skin is 520 RP, pure model swap, no frills. But there's something about Jax bonking people with a hockey stick in a teamfight that never gets old. Spammed this in my Diamond games last season during a Jax phase and the amount of "nice skin" comments I got in all chat was worth more than any Legendary VFX.
Whistler Village Twitch deserves more love than it gets. Named after the actual Olympic venue in British Columbia. Twitch in full winter gear with ski goggles. The model reads well even today because the silhouette changes are solid. Not sure if it's just me but Twitch skins from this era have a certain charm that the newer ones lost somewhere along the way. The rat in snow gear just works thematically.
Vancouver Amumu is the emotional pick. Sad mummy in Canadian Olympic gear, crying on the ice. The character fantasy writes itself. At 520 RP it's basically free and Amumu mains who want something unique should grab it over the flashier options. Real talk though, the splash art is rough by modern standards. Like genuinely looks like it was painted in 2009. Which it probably was.
Curling Veigar rounds out my top picks. Tiny evil yordle throwing curling stones instead of dark matter. The R animation with a curling stone flying at your face is comedy gold in lane. I played this into a Veigar one-trick mirror once around 3 AM and we both had it equipped. Good times.
The Champion Roster
Eight champions got the Winter Sports treatment and the roster tells you a lot about where League was in 2010. Fiddlesticks repping the UK with Union Jack colors. Honest opinion here: Fiddle is a weird choice for a sports skinline. Scarecrow playing sports? But the British flag design carries it.
Jax and his hockey stick. Perfect fit. Champion who fights with a lamppost getting a hockey stick instead is the most natural skin concept in the entire line. Twitch in Whistler Village gear works because the rat-in-winter-clothes visual is inherently funny. Amumu in Vancouver Olympic gear hits the sad angle hard.
Anivia got Team Spirit which leans into her ice bird identity. Might be overthinking it but an ice phoenix at the Winter Olympics is almost too on the nose. Kassadin's Festival skin gives him this winter carnival look thats actually pretty distinct from his other skins. And Veigar curling. Just Veigar curling.
Who's missing? Honestly the line could have used a Braum skin but he didn't exist in 2010. Nunu would have been the obvious pick even back then. An ice boy and his yeti at the Winter Olympics? Writes itself. Tryndamere with a ski sword could have worked too. The roster feels complete for 2010's champion pool though. These were all popular picks at the time.
The line skews toward older champions obviously. No one from after season 1 made the cut because there wasn't really a season 2 roster yet. If Riot ever revisited this concept (they won't, but hypothetically) the champion pool would look completely different.
Tier and Price Breakdown
Seven Standards and one Legendary. That's the Winter Sports economy. Most of the line sits at 520 RP which was the budget tier back in 2010. Model swap, maybe a weapon change, no new particles or animations. You're paying for the concept not the execution.
Ice Toboggan Corki at 1820 RP is the premium option and honestly the only skin in the line that would qualify as more than a texture swap by today's standards. Even then, a 2010 Legendary is like a 2024 Epic at best. Maybe less. No custom ability VFX, no unique recall animation (recalls didn't even exist yet in 2010 I think, or had just been added). The Legendary tax was mostly for the model quality bump and maybe some voice filter work.
For collectors the whole line is cheap to complete. Most of these sit in the Legacy vault so you'd need to wait for a vault opening or get lucky with Hextech crafting. Price-wise you're looking at under 6000 RP total for all 8 if you catch them during a Legacy sale. Not bad for a complete skinline collection. Fair warning though, some of these almost never rotate back into the shop so patience is required.
The Standard skins punch above their weight in terms of concept even if the execution is dated. 520 RP for a hockey stick Jax or a curling Veigar is genuinely good value for the laughs alone. These aren't skins you buy for competitive edge or visual clarity. You buy them because they're funny and rare.
Winter Sports Skins FAQ
How many Winter Sports skins are there?
8 skins total in the Winter Sports line. All dropped in 2010 around the Vancouver Olympics window. Seven Standard tier skins at 520 RP each and one Legendary in Ice Toboggan Corki at 1820 RP. Riot hasn't added to the line since then and I seriously doubt they ever will. It was a one-time event thing.
What is the best Winter Sports skin?
Ice Toboggan Corki takes it for pure quality since it's the only Legendary. But The Mighty Jax with the hockey stick is the fan favorite pick. Been running Jax hockey stick in ranked and the reactions are always worth it. Depends on whether you value rarity or comedy more honestly.
Which champions have Winter Sports skins?
Fiddlesticks, Jax, Twitch, Amumu, Anivia, Kassadin, Corki, and Veigar. Eight champions total. All from the original League roster since the line came out in early 2010. Each one represents a different winter sport discipline which is a nice touch from Riot.
Does Winter Sports have Legendary skins?
One Legendary. Ice Toboggan Corki at 1820 RP. Keep in mind this is a 2010 Legendary so dont expect modern Legendary quality. No custom ability VFX or unique voice lines by today's standards. The model and toboggan replacement for his plane are the main draws. Still cool for collectors though.
When did the Winter Sports skinline release?
The entire line dropped in 2010, timed with the Vancouver Winter Olympics. All 8 skins came out within the same patch window. That's February 2010 if memory serves right. Riot was way more willing to do real-world event tie-ins back then compared to now where everything needs its own fictional universe.
Are Winter Sports skins worth buying?
For the memes and rarity, absolutely. These are Legacy vault skins that barely show up in games anymore. At 520 RP the Standards are cheap fun. Ice Toboggan Corki is harder to justify at 1820 for a skin with no modern VFX. Worth it if you collect rare Legendaries. Skip if you want actual gameplay-feel improvements.
Do Winter Sports skins have chromas?
No chromas for any Winter Sports skin. The line predates the chroma system by about five years. Chromas didn't exist in League until 2015 and Riot has never gone back to add them to this set. What you see is what you get with each skin's single color variant.
Will Riot make more Winter Sports skins?
Almost certainly not. The line was a specific Vancouver 2010 Olympics tie-in and Riot moved away from real-world event skins years ago. They have Winterblessed and Snow Day for winter-themed content now. Could be wrong but I'd bet money Winter Sports stays frozen at 8 skins forever. Pun intended.
