Vancouver Amumu

First time I saw Vancouver Amumu in a loading screen I had to double take. Little dude traded his bandages for a full hockey outfit and honestly it caught me off guard in the best way. This is one of those skins that just makes you smile when you lock in Amumu for a ranked game at like 1 AM on a Tuesday.

What actually changes on Vancouver Amumu

Alright so this is a 520 RP Standard tier skin. No new VFX, no new animations, base voice lines. Thats the reality of older budget skins and I think most people buying this already know what they’re getting into. The model swap is the whole package here.

Amumu gets a hockey jersey, skates, and a helmet. The color scheme leans into that classic red and white Canadian hockey vibe. Could be wrong here but I think the jersey references the 2010 Winter Olympics branding, which tracks with the release timing. His bandages are replaced with what looks like athletic tape wrapping, which is a nice touch for a skin at this price point.

In game the silhouette reads clearly. You can tell its Amumu from across the Rift but the hockey gear gives him a completely different personality. Played maybe 30 games with this skin back when I first got it from a chest, and the thing that stood out was how the skating animation on his base model kinda works with the ice skates. Not intentional I’m sure but it just fits. The Bandage Toss still looks the same, Q connects the same, ult still drops the same teamfight-winning circle. No particle changes anywhere on W, E, or R.

Voice pack is base only. Cristina Milizia’s voice work on Amumu is solid enough that it doesnt feel like a downgrade though. The sad mummy crying in a hockey helmet hits different.

The Winter Sports line and release context

Vancouver Amumu dropped February 12, 2010. Season 1 era. Most people reading this probably weren’t even playing League yet. The Winter Sports skinline came out to celebrate the Vancouver Winter Olympics, and Riot released a handful of sports themed skins around the same time. Not gonna lie, there’s something charming about these early event skins that newer releases just cant replicate.

No splash artist credited in the data, which is pretty common for skins from this era. The splash itself is simple by modern standards but it gets the job done. (Random aside: early League splash arts have this specific painterly quality that I low key miss.)

Zero chromas on this one. At 520 RP and from 2010, thats expected. Riot wasn’t doing chromas back then and they’ve never gone back to add them for most Legacy catalog skins.

Should you pick up Vancouver Amumu

Here’s the catch. Legacy vault skin. You cant just walk into the shop and grab it. You either need to roll it from Hextech crafting or wait for one of those rare Legacy vault sales Riot does maybe once a year. Been maining Amumu on and off since season 9 I think or 10 dont remember, and Vancouver is one of those skins I keep in rotation purely for the novelty factor.

Real verdict: at 520 RP this is a fair price for what you get. Model swap, funny theme, genuine collector value from being a 2010 Legacy skin. If you’re an Amumu one-trick looking to complete the collection, Vancouver Amumu is worth keeping if it drops from a chest. I wouldnt reroll it. But if you’re looking for the best Amumu skin with actual gameplay feel changes, Sad Robot or Surprise Party are better picks for climbing ranked. Those have new VFX and recall animations that Vancouver just doesnt offer.

For the Winter Sports completionist crowd though? Easy keep. Sits in the Legacy pool waiting for you to get lucky on a reroll. 520 RP well spent for mains who want every Amumu skin in the drawer.
