Glaive Warrior Pantheon

First time I saw Glaive Warrior Pantheon load in was sometime around season 3, maybe season 4. Couldn’t tell you the exact game but I remember thinking the dude looked like he walked straight out of a gladiator movie. Not the Russell Crowe kind. More like the History Channel at 2 AM kind. Still liked it though.

What Glaive Warrior actually changes

So this is a 975 RP Standard tier skin, and for that price point back in 2012 you got a decent amount. Pantheon swaps his usual Spartan gear for this heavier, more Roman-gladiator style kit. The shield is different, the weapon is a glaive instead of the classic spear, and the armor has this bronze-gold plating that reads well in lane. Sangsoo Jeong nailed the splash for this one. The pose is aggressive, the lighting catches the blade right.

VFX got some adjustments which is honestly surprising for a skin at this price. The Q poke feels slightly different visually, not a massive overhaul but enough that you notice after 10 or 15 games. Could be wrong here but I think the W stun impact has a slightly warmer color tone compared to base. E and R keep the same general read but with the new model it all flows together better.

Voice lines stay base. No new VO, which is expected. Been running this skin in my Diamond games on and off since Pantheon’s rework and the updated model actually made Glaive Warrior age better than some of his other older skins. The glaive weapon translates well to the reworked animations. Grand Skyfall with this skin just hits different when you’re diving the backline in a teamfight.

The Wonders of the World line and release context

Glaive Warrior Pantheon dropped May 30, 2012. Part of the Wonders of the World skinline which is one of those older Riot thematic groups that doesnt get much attention anymore. Fair enough. The line pulls from historical warrior archetypes and Pantheon fits naturally into that space given his whole “Aspect of War” thing on the Rift.

No chromas on this one. Zero. Which is fine honestly, not every skin needs eight recolors. (Random aside: I kinda wish they’d revisit this skin with a single chroma pack but Riot seems to have moved on from the older Legacy stuff.)

Speaking of Legacy, this sits in the vault now. Hextech only these days. Seen maybe two of these in my games all season, which is a shame because it’s genuinely solid for what it is. If you get it from a chest, keep it. 975 RP value for free is hard to argue against.

Should you care about Glaive Warrior Pantheon?

Real verdict: Glaive Warrior Pantheon is one of those skins that flies under the radar. It’s not flashy. Not gonna compete with Pulsefire or Ashen Conqueror for the “best Pantheon skin” conversation. But for Pantheon mains who want something clean and historical, something that feels like the champion’s fantasy without all the sci-fi or zombie theming, this works.

Not gonna lie, I rotated back to this after spamming Dragonslayer for like 40 ranked games last month. The simplicity is refreshing. You lock in Pantheon, you engage, you peel, you ult across the map. Glaive Warrior doesn’t distract from that. The glaive model during your combo animations looks clean in teamfights and the splash is phone wallpaper worthy even by today’s standards.

If you’re a Pantheon one-trick climbing through ranked and this drops from a chest, equip it. 975 RP well spent for mains, and since its Legacy you cant even buy it normally. That scarcity alone makes it worth keeping in rotation.
