Not gonna lie, when I first locked in Full Metal Pantheon back in like season 3 or 4, it felt way more futuristic than anything else Pantheon had at the time. The base skin was just a dude with a spear and a shield. This one turned him into something out of a mech anime. Still holds up in a weird nostalgic way even though the skin pool for Pantheon has gotten way deeper since then.
The mech warrior fantasy on a budget
Full Metal Pantheon swaps out the Spartan aesthetic for a full robotic suit. Silver and blue armor plating, a tech-looking shield, energy spear. The VFX got updated which is nice for a 975 RP skin. His Q throws a glowing projectile that reads cleaner than base, and the W stun has this metallic impact flash. Solid stuff.
Played maybe 40 games with this skin last month in Diamond and the auto attack animations feel crisp. Could be placebo. Probably is. But the spear thrust has this satisfying weight to it that I dont get from the default Pantheon model. The E shield wall looks like actual reinforced plating instead of a regular shield, which fits the Heavy Metal theme perfectly.
Voice lines stay base, no new VO. Same George Georgiou performance underneath the robot suit. No new recall animation either, so you’re getting the standard Pantheon recall. For 975 RP thats expected. The visual overhaul is where the value sits.
Heavy Metal origins and the splash
Released August 1, 2011. Season 1 era, before Pantheon even got his full rework. Blake Byun nailed the splash art. The pose is aggressive, spear forward, shield up, classic Pantheon energy but wrapped in this sleek mech frame. (Random aside: I used this splash as my summoner icon for two straight seasons before switching to the Dragonslayer one.)
The Heavy Metal skinline is small. Not one of Riot’s flagship theme universes. Full Metal Pantheon sits alongside a few other champs in the line but it never really expanded into a huge roster. Kinda feels like Riot tested the waters with this tech-warrior concept and then moved on to PROJECT and Mecha for that niche. Heavy Metal was the prototype, in a way.
Permanent shop availability. 975 RP, no chromas. What you see is what you get.
Should you pick up Full Metal Pantheon?
Real verdict: if you’re a Pantheon main climbing through ranked and want something different from base without dropping 1820 on Pulsefire, this works. 975 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX updates carry it. Been running this as my secondary Pantheon skin since around season 9 I think, swapping between this and Dragonslayer depending on mood.
Best use case is when your comp needs a dive-heavy toplaner and you want to look intimidating in the loading screen. The mech aesthetic reads well. Not the flashiest Pantheon skin by modern standards, but for the price point it delivers. Skip it if you already own Pulsefire or the Ashen Conqueror, those are objectively more polished. But for a budget option that still turns heads in lane? Full Metal Pantheon earns its spot. Last Tuesday I got three compliments on it in post-game chat after a 12/2 game where I was ganking mid on repeat pre-6. People still notice this one.
