First time I saw Zombie Slayer Pantheon in a loading screen I thought someone modded the game. Pantheon walking around with a makeshift shield and a chainsaw strapped to his arm just hits different from anything else in his skin catalog. Not gonna lie, this one caught me off guard back in 2015 and it still holds up.
What Zombie Slayer Pantheon actually changes
The whole model gets a post-apocalyptic overhaul. Pantheon trades his Spartan armor for torn tactical gear, goggles pushed up on his forehead, and this crude shield that looks welded together from scrap metal. The spear? Gone. Replaced with something closer to a sharpened pipe or rebar situation. Heavy Walking Dead energy.
New VFX on his abilities give the skin some real identity. His Q launch has this gritty particle trail, and when you land Grand Starfall the impact zone gets these green-tinted toxic splashes. Played maybe 40 games with this thing during season 6 and the ult landing always got reactions in chat. The recall animation is solid too, Pantheon plants his weapon and surveys the wasteland like hes scouting for the next horde. Short but fits the theme perfectly.
Could be wrong here but I think the auto attack animations feel slightly different with the makeshift weapon. Might just be the visual weight of the model change tricking my brain. Either way, CSing in lane with this skin has a satisfying crunch to it. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is expected at this price point. George Georgiou’s original Pantheon voice still works fine with the zombie apocalypse aesthetic though. The base kit voice about war and battle translates surprisingly well when you’re fighting undead instead of Noxians.
One thing that surprised me. The shield bash on his E looks brutal with the scrap metal shield. In teamfights when you’re peeling for your backline or diving their carry, the visual reads clean against most Rift backgrounds. No clarity issues.
The Zombies VS Slayers line and release context
Released November 5, 2015. Right around the time Riot was experimenting with these fun thematic skinlines that didnt take themselves too seriously. Christian Fell did the splash, and the composition is genuinely great. Pantheon standing on a pile of debris with zombified minions closing in, chainsaw-arm raised. (Random aside: this splash would make a sick desktop wallpaper if you crop it right, the color grading is that good.)
The Zombies VS Slayers skinline dropped alongside Zombie Slayer Jinx and the zombie versions of other champs. The concept is straightforward. Some champions got the zombie treatment, others became the survivors fighting them. Pantheon landed on the slayer side, which makes total sense for his character. Dude literally jumps from the sky with a spear, of course he’s the one clearing out hordes.
No chromas on this one. 975 RP price tag. Legacy vault skin so you cant just grab it whenever you want. I think it pops up during Harrowing events or you might roll it from Hextech crafting. Last Tuesday I actually saw one in my Diamond game for the first time in months, reminded me this skin exists. It’s weirdly rare in the wild despite being pretty clean.
Should you pick up Zombie Slayer Pantheon?
Real verdict: this is a strong 975 RP skin that punches above its weight class. The new VFX and recall put it ahead of most Standard tier Pantheon options. Been running this in ranked during late season and it feels good. The post-apocalyptic theme is unique in Pantheon’s lineup. Nothing else he has goes for this vibe.
975 RP feels fair for what you get. New model, new VFX, new recall. For a Standard skin thats more than you usually see at this price. If you main Pantheon and want something that stands out from the Greek warrior aesthetic, this is your pick. Only issue is the Legacy availability, you might need to wait for the vault to open or get lucky with loot drops.
Compared to Dragonslayer or Pulsefire? Different lane entirely. Those go epic fantasy and sci-fi. Zombie Slayer goes gritty survival horror. I keep coming back to this skin specifically when I want that scrappy underdog energy in my games. Top pick for Pantheon mains who want variety, skip it if you’re holding out for something with new voice lines. Straight talk: for the price and the theme, hard to argue against it.
