First time I saw Zombie Slayer Jinx load in, my immediate thought was “this is the skin Jinx mains forget exists.” Not because its bad. Because the Zombies VS Slayers line never got the hype it deserved, and this one kind of slipped through the cracks between Firecracker and Star Guardian. Played maybe 40 games with it back in late 2015 when it dropped and I remember thinking the VFX were cleaner than they had any right to be for a themed event skin.
What Zombie Slayer Jinx actually brings to the table
So the whole fantasy here is Jinx as a post-apocalyptic zombie hunter. Pow-Pow gets this makeshift metal plating look, duct tape and scrap bolted onto the minigun. Fishbones turns into what I can only describe as a rusted-out rocket launcher that looks like she pulled it from a wrecked car. Honestly not gonna lie, the weapon models carry this skin harder than the outfit itself.
The VFX are where things get interesting. Her Q swap has this grimy green tint to the particles, and her W – Zap! – fires with a slightly different trail that reads well against the Rift. The ult rocket, Mega Death Rocket, keeps that contaminated green glow and it looks genuinely threatening flying down a lane. Not a massive overhaul but for 1350 RP you’re getting custom particles on every ability which is the baseline expectation for an Epic tier skin.
Recall animation is the highlight for me. Jinx fights off a horde of tiny zombies climbing up around her. Classic Jinx energy. She’s laughing, shooting, having the time of her life while everything around her is falling apart. Been running this in Diamond games and the recall gets comments in chat maybe once every ten games or so. People notice it.
Voice lines stay base, no new VO. Sarah Anne Williams still does her thing underneath but theres no filter or new lines. For an Epic skin thats standard and I’m not holding it against Riot. The base Jinx voice is iconic enough that slapping a filter on it would probably hurt more than help.
The Zombies VS Slayers event and release context
Zombie Slayer Jinx released November 5, 2015. Right around the Halloween window, which makes sense for the zombie theme. Christian Fell did the splash, and honestly the composition is solid. Jinx standing on a pile of defeated zombies with that manic grin, rockets and chaos everywhere. Classic Jinx energy in a new wrapper.
The Zombies VS Slayers skinline is one of those forgotten Riot themes. Pantheon got one too. The line had potential but Riot moved on to bigger event themes and never circled back. Kinda feels like it was a one-and-done concept that deserved a second wave.
One chroma exists: the Doom chroma. Deep red and purple color scheme that gives the whole skin an edgier vibe. I actually prefer the Doom variant over the base green colorway because it reads more aggressively in teamfights. The red pops against Summoner’s Rift better than the muted green tones of the original. Worth picking up if you find it available.
This is a Legacy vault skin so you cant just grab it from the shop whenever you want. Sits in the vault and comes out during special events or sales, maybe around Halloween or Your Shop rotations. Keep an eye out if you’re interested because the availability window is narrow.
How it stacks up against other Jinx skins
Real talk though, Jinx has one of the most stacked skin catalogs in the game. Star Guardian is the poster child, Project is clean, Arcane Enemy carries narrative weight. Where does Zombie Slayer fit? Somewhere in the mid-tier honestly. It’s not competing with the Legendary-adjacent skins but it holds its own against Firecracker and Crime City.
(Random aside: I used this skin exclusively during one ranked weekend in season 6 and went on a 7-game win streak. Correlation not causation but I’m superstitious about it now.)
The thing Zombie Slayer does well is feel different from every other Jinx skin. Most of her catalog leans into bright colors and flashy themes. This one goes gritty. Post-apocalyptic Jinx with scrap weapons and zombie guts is a hard pivot from the usual aesthetic and I respect it. If you’re an ADC main who locks in Jinx regularly and you want variety in your skin rotation, this fills a niche nothing else covers.
The honest take
Should you buy Zombie Slayer Jinx? 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on Q, W, E, and R. Custom recall. Solid splash art. The Doom chroma adds value if you want that darker look. Could be wrong here but I think this skin is underrated specifically because it launched before Jinx became the face of Arcane and the champion’s popularity exploded.
Skip this if you already own Star Guardian or Project and only play Jinx occasionally. But for Jinx one-tricks who want every skin in the collection, Zombie Slayer earns its spot. The post-apocalyptic vibe is unique in her lineup and the VFX hold up surprisingly well for a 2015 release. Last Tuesday I pulled it out in a late-game comp where we needed backline poke and engage deterrence and the ult VFX genuinely looked better than I remembered. Worth 1350 RP if you main Jinx. Simple change – huge impact on how fresh the champion feels in your hands after hundreds of games on the default.
