Battle Cat Jinx

First time I saw Battle Cat Jinx load into my game I thought someone modded their client. Not gonna lie, the whole magical girl meets mecha cat aesthetic caught me off guard. Jinx already has one of the bigger skin pools in the game but this one carved out its own lane pretty fast. Played maybe 40 games with it the first two weeks after release and the novelty didnt wear off. The Anima Squad event dropped late March 2022 and this skin was the highlight for me, no contest.

VFX and model changes on Battle Cat Jinx

So for 1350 RP you’re getting new VFX across the board. Pow-Pow and Fishbones both got the cat treatment with paw-print styled particles on autos. The Q swap animation feels snappier visually, like theres more weight to the transition. Could be wrong here but I think the rocket launcher form actually has slightly different trail effects compared to base Jinx rockets.

W shoots out this bright energy beam with cat ear shaped particles at the impact point. Subtle but clean. E chompers land with little paw explosions, which is honestly the kind of detail I live for in Epic skins. Been spamming this in Diamond bot lane and the traps read well against the Rift floor, no clarity issues.

The ult is where it really delivers though. Super Mega Death Rocket gets this massive cat-shaped projectile that streaks across the map. Seen it snipe a low hp Kayn trying to recall near dragon pit last Tuesday around 11 PM. The kill particle burst is satisfying. New recall animation too: Jinx rides her mecha cat companion, does a little pose. Standard voice lines, no new VO, which is expected at this tier.

(Random aside: my duo partner refuses to play with me when I use this skin because the recall music annoys him. His loss.)

The Anima Squad line and release context

Battle Cat Jinx dropped March 31, 2022. Season 12. Felipe Martini and West Studio handled the artwork, and they cooked on this one. The splash captures the energy perfectly, Jinx mid-leap with her cat mech firing in the background.

Anima Squad as a skinline is one of Riot’s more creative thematic swings. Part magical girl anime, part military squad, part cute animal companions. Jinx fits the chaotic energy of the line naturally. Miss Fortune got the Legendary in this batch but honestly Battle Cat Jinx holds its own as the standout Epic. The Anima Squad roster was solid across the board but Jinx mains specifically got a good deal here.

9 chromas total. Tanzanite is my go-to, the deep purple with gold accents reads cleaner than base in teamfights. Nightwire has this orange and blue split that feels like a completely different skin. Pearl goes for the white and pastel route if you want something softer. Not sure if it’s just me but Ruby feels redundant when the base already leans warm. Still in the shop, grab it whenever.

Is Battle Cat Jinx worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: this is a strong Epic. Maybe top three or four in Jinx’s catalog depending on your taste. Star Guardian Jinx still exists and thats the nostalgia pick for a lot of people. Project Jinx appeals to the sci-fi crowd. But Battle Cat Jinx carved its own niche for players who want something playful without being overly serious.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on every ability, solid recall, great splash, and 9 chromas if you want variety. The model itself is detailed enough that you notice the cat ears and tail accessories in game, not just in the loading screen. Been maining Jinx with this equipped most of season 12 and into 13. Kinda feels like it ages well because the particle work is clean, not overloaded.

Skip it if you already own Star Guardian and only rotate one Jinx skin. But if you’re a Jinx one-trick who cycles through skins based on mood, this belongs in rotation. Top pick for Jinx mains who want something with personality. The ADC life is rough enough, might as well look good while you’re getting ganked pre-6 for the third time.
