Played maybe 40 games with Battle Bunny Prime Riven the week it dropped and I remember thinking Riot finally figured out how to update a classic without killing what made it work. The original Battle Bunny was always a fan favorite for Riven mains, kind of a meme skin but also genuinely clean in lane. This one takes that concept and wraps it in the Anima Squad sci-fi treatment. First game I locked it in, my support pinged the splash in champ select. Good sign.
What Riot actually changed here
For 1350 RP you get the full Epic package. New model, new VFX on every ability, new recall animation. Voice lines stay base, no new VO. The Q combo has these sharp holographic slash effects that read really well in teamfights, honestly better than some Legendary skins I’ve used. Each broken sword fragment on Q3 leaves a brief digital trail that fades pink-white.
W stun pulse got a hexagonal burst pattern. Clean. Not gonna lie, its one of the better W visuals across all Riven skins because it actually shows the hitbox clearly. Helpful when you’re trying to peel for your ADC or flash-W engage in a comp that needs you to frontline.
E shield pops with this mech-suit energy barrier look. Subtle but distinct from base. R activation gives Riven the full battle mode transformation with the blade reconstructing in that Anima Squad pink-white color scheme, and Wind Slash fires off with a clean arc that feels snappier than default. Could be wrong here but I think the R2 projectile reads slightly thinner than base, which threw me off for like three games around 1 AM on a Tuesday before I adjusted.
The recall is fun. Riven does this tactical pose with holographic bunny ears materializing. Short, punchy, doesnt overstay its welcome like some recalls that take forever.
Anima Squad context and the splash
Battle Bunny Prime Riven released March 31, 2022. Part of the Anima Squad skinline, which was Riot’s take on a mecha-anime military squad. Francis Tneh and West Studio handled the artwork, and they cooked. The splash captures Riven mid-leap with the reconstructed blade, pink energy trailing behind her. (Random aside: this splash rotated as my desktop background for most of season 12.)
Anima Squad as a line had some hits and misses. Miss Fortune’s Legendary carried the set, but Battle Bunny Prime Riven holds its own as the best Epic tier option. The thematic works for Riven specifically because she already had the original Battle Bunny, so this feels like a lore-accurate upgrade rather than a random theme slapped onto a champion.
10 chromas total. Obsidian is my go-to for ranked because the dark color scheme reads aggressive and the VFX contrast pops harder against the Rift. Nightwire has this orange-blue split that gives off Evangelion vibes. Paragon leans into a clean icy blue that honestly competes with the base skin for best version. Rest are solid but those three stood out after spamming them in Diamond last season.
Is Battle Bunny Prime Riven worth 1350 RP?
Real verdict: if you main Riven this is top three material. Maybe top two depending on how you feel about Spirit Blossom. The VFX are crisp, the model is sharp, and the Anima Squad theme fits her kit better than half the skinlines Riot has tried on Riven over the years.
1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Been maining Riven with this skin on and off since season 12 and I keep coming back to it over more expensive options. Might be overthinking it but the Q animations feel slightly more responsive with this skin, probably placebo but I’m not switching. Permanent shop availability so no rush, but if you play Riven in any capacity and you’re climbing through ranked this season, this is the one. Skip it only if you already own Pulsefire or Spirit Blossom and dont need another Riven skin in rotation. For everyone else who locks in Riven even occasionally in solo queue, hard to argue against it.
