First time I saw Redeemed Riven back in like season 2, I thought it was just a recolor. Loaded into a normal game, squinted at the model, and honestly wasnt sure what changed. Then I looked closer. The whole vibe shifts once you notice the details. Not a flashy skin by any standard, but something about it stuck with me through years of playing Riven on and off in Diamond.
What actually changes on Redeemed Riven
So let me set expectations here. This is a 975 RP Standard tier skin from 2011. No new VFX. Voice lines stay base. No updated recall animation. What you get is a full model swap and that’s it.
The broken sword gets a cleaner, lighter look. White and gold replace the dark greens of base Riven. Her armor reads more ceremonial than battle-worn. Kinda feels like she walked out of a Demacian cathedral instead of the Noxian front lines. The cloth wrapping on her blade is lighter, almost pristine. In lane the white stands out against the Rift pretty well, especially on the blue side.
Not gonna lie, the Q combo animations feel the same but the lighter color palette makes them easier to track. Could be wrong here but I think the hitbox reads a little cleaner visually when you’re chaining Q into auto resets. Played maybe 40 games with this skin last season in Diamond and the auto cancels felt crisp. No gameplay advantage obviously, just a visual comfort thing.
(Random aside: my duo partner thought this was a custom skin the first time he saw it in champ select. That’s how rarely it shows up in games these days.)
The Otherroads line and some history
Redeemed Riven dropped September 14, 2011. Early days. Season 1 was barely over. The skin falls under the Otherroads skinline, which is basically Riot’s “what if this champion made different choices” collection. For Riven specifically it hits different because her whole lore is about guilt and destruction. The redeemed version suggests she found peace. Cool concept even if the execution is minimal by today’s standards.
Kienan ‘Knockwurst’ Lafferty handled the artwork. The splash captures that clean, almost holy warrior energy. White blade fragments floating, determined expression. Solid work for its era. No chromas available for this one, which makes sense given when it released.
Shop has it permanently at 975 RP. Been there since launch, never rotated out. You can grab it any time.
Should you pick up Redeemed Riven?
Real verdict: if you main Riven and want every skin in the collection, sure. 975 RP is standard pricing. But there’s a lot of competition in Riven’s skin pool now. Spirit Blossom Riven exists. Pulsefire exists. Battle Bunny Prime is right there with new VFX and the whole package. Redeemed Riven cant compete with those on a feature level.
Where it wins is the clean aesthetic. Some Riven one-tricks I know in Diamond prefer the simpler skins because there’s less visual noise during fast combos. When you’re doing the Q auto W cancel into E engage, you dont want particles cluttering your screen. Been running this occasionally since around season 9 I think, specifically for that reason.
Skip it if you only want one Riven skin. Grab it if you already have three and want the full set. The white and gold look is unique in her lineup and 975 RP wont break anyone’s wallet. Not the best Riven skin full stop, but it holds a specific place for players who appreciate the lore angle and the minimal approach. For a 2011 release with no new effects, it aged better than most skins from that era. Fair price for the package.
