Reignited Worlds 2012 Riven

Not gonna lie, when Riot announced they were bringing back the Worlds 2012 Riven skin with a reignited version I was skeptical. The original was already one of the most coveted skins in League history. Played a few games with it the week it dropped and something about the updated VFX just clicked in a way I wasnt expecting. Riven mains had been asking for this for years and Riot actually delivered something worth locking in.

How Reignited Worlds 2012 Riven actually looks in game

The World Championship aesthetic carries hard here. Riven’s blade gets this glowing championship gold treatment that pops during Q combos. Each Q cast leaves behind updated particle trails, brighter and cleaner than the original 2012 version. The W stun has a sharper burst effect now. Feels like Riot went back and polished every ability without losing what made the skin special in the first place.

Her ult activation is where it really shines though. Wind Slash sends out this golden arc that reads beautifully in teamfights. Been running this in Diamond ranked and the recall animation is a nice touch too, Riven plants the championship sword into the ground with the Worlds logo flashing behind her. Small detail but it sells the fantasy.

Voice lines stay base, no new VO here. For 975 RP thats expected. The model itself keeps the championship armor silhouette with updated textures, darker metallics with gold accents that catch light better on the Rift. Could be wrong here but I think the auto attack animations feel slightly snappier with this skin compared to default, probably just visual placebo from the cleaner particles.

The World Championship legacy and release context

Reignited Worlds 2012 Riven dropped September 25, 2016. Late season 6. Kienan ‘Knockwurst’ Lafferty nailed the splash, capturing Riven mid-combo with the championship blade fully reformed. The World Championship skinline is one of Riot’s longest running traditions and Riven’s entry remains one of the most iconic.

This is a Legacy vault skin so you cant just grab it whenever. Sits in the vault until Riot decides to bring it out, usually around Worlds season. One Golden chroma exists for it. The Golden variant pushes the championship gold even harder, almost blindingly bright in the bot lane specifically. Honestly the Golden chroma on this skin goes harder than some standalone Epic skins I own.

(Random aside: my friend who one-tricks Riven has this skin permanently locked in and refuses to use anything else, even Spirit Blossom which he also owns.)

Is Reignited Worlds 2012 Riven worth 975 RP?

Real verdict: this is a Standard tier skin priced at 975 RP that punches above its weight. New VFX on abilities, a custom recall, championship theming that actually means something. Compare it to other Riven skins in the same price range and nothing else gives you updated particles plus a recall for under 1350 RP.

The catch is availability. Legacy catalog means you might be waiting months for it to rotate back. Last Tuesday I checked the shop on a whim and it wasnt there, typical vault behavior. If you main Riven and care about the competitive heritage of League, this skin carries that energy better than most. Skip it if you already have Pulsefire or Valiant Sword since those offer more for the price jump. But for Riven mains climbing through ranked who want something clean without the Legendary tax, 975 RP feels fair for what you get. Been spamming this in Diamond for maybe 30 games this season and I keep coming back to it over flashier options. Worth the pickup next time Worlds rolls around and the vault opens.
