Worlds 2023 Renekton

First game I loaded this up was a late-night ranked session, maybe 1 AM on a Tuesday. The splash caught me off guard. Renekton in full Worlds regalia, trophy energy radiating off the model. Not gonna lie, I wasnt expecting much from another esports-themed skin but Riot put actual effort into this one. The croc looks like he just won the whole tournament and is ready to run it back.

What Worlds 2023 Renekton actually brings to the table

So this is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP. You get new VFX across all abilities and a fresh recall animation. Voice lines stay base, which is fine because Patrick Seitz already goes hard on Renekton’s default VO. No filter either.

The Q slice has this clean golden-blue energy trail that reads way better than base in teamfights. Been running this in Diamond for a couple months and the visual clarity on Cull the Meek is genuinely improved. Your W stun proc gets these sharp particle bursts, feels crunchy. E dash leaves a trail with the Worlds color palette – that deep blue and gold combo that Riot uses for championship skins every year.

Ult is where things pop. When you activate Dominus the VFX expand with this radiant aura. Kinda feels like the skin was designed around making your ult look intimidating in lane. Had a game where I dove their Syndra top side and the ult VFX actually made my jungler think I had more health than I did. He pinged me alive. Small thing but the visual weight matters.

The recall animation ties the whole World Championship theme together. Renekton hoists the Summoner’s Cup, standard for the line but executed well. Could be wrong here but I think the recall particles on this one are slightly cleaner than some of the older Worlds skins.

The Worlds line and release context

Released October 11, 2023, right in time for the World Championship that year. Eric Xie and West Studio handled the splash, they captured the trophy ceremony vibe perfectly. The gold armor details in the artwork have this reflective quality that most Worlds splashes miss.

The World Championship skinline has been going since the early days of competitive League. Some hits, some misses. Renekton fits the aggressive top lane energy the line tries to represent. (Random aside: my buddy who’s been one-tricking Renekton since season 5 immediately set this as his permanent pick and hasnt looked back.)

Legacy vault skin, so you cant just grab it whenever. Sits in the vault until Riot decides to rotate it back, probably around Worlds season if history is anything to go by. Hextech crafting is your other option if you’re patient enough to roll it from chests.

5 chromas total. Destined is the standout for me – that purple and blue gradient makes the model look like a different skin entirely. Peridot goes green and honestly reads a bit like a Blackfrost variant if you squint. Ruby exists, its fine, standard red recolor energy. The Unlocked and Catseye options are there if you want something lighter but I keep coming back to Destined.

Is 1350 RP fair for Worlds 2023 Renekton?

Straight talk: Renekton has a stacked skin catalog. You’re competing against Pool Party, PROJECT, Blackfrost, and Hextech. Some of those are Legendary or have way more going on. But for the Worlds line specifically this is one of the better executions. The VFX work earns the Epic price point.

Might be overthinking it but I think the reason this skin works is the restraint. No over-the-top theme clash, no weird lore mashup. Just Renekton looking like a champion. The gold and blue palette is clean on the Rift, especially in bot lane river fights where the lighting catches the particles right.

Played maybe 40 games with this across two patches after release. The auto attack animations feel identical to base which is important for cs timing. Some Renekton skins mess with the animation flow and you lose lane prio just from missing a cannon. Not here. Smooth.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. If you main Renekton and care about the competitive scene at all, this is a no-brainer pickup when it rotates back into the shop. If you only own one Renekton skin already and its something like Scorched Earth or Prehistoric, this is a solid upgrade. Skip it if you already have PROJECT or Blackfrost locked in as your go-to – those have more going on for similar or slightly higher price points. For Worlds skin collectors though, top pick in the 2023 batch.
