Not gonna lie, when I first saw Pool Party Renekton back in 2013 I thought Riot was trolling. A giant crocodile in board shorts swinging a pool noodle. Thats the whole pitch. And somehow it works better than skins that try way harder to impress you. Been running this in ranked for years and the vibe never gets old.
What Pool Party Renekton actually changes
Renekton trades his blade for a giant inflatable pool noodle. Blue and yellow board shorts replace the armor. He’s got sunglasses, flip flops, the whole summer vacation kit on a seven-foot reptile. The model rework is clean for a 975 RP skin from that era.
VFX got a proper update here. His Q sends out a splash of water instead of the usual arc. W smacks with water particles on the stun. Feels satisfying. The E dash leaves a trail of water behind him which reads well in lane and in teamfights when you’re diving their backline. Could be wrong here but I think the water particles on his empowered W hit slightly different from base W, at least visually.
The recall animation is the highlight for me. Renekton sits in a kiddie pool and chills. Simple change – huge impact. I locked this skin in for maybe 30 games straight last September just because the recall made me laugh every time. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but Patrick Seitz’s delivery on base Renekton already hits hard enough that it doesnt matter.
(Random aside: my duo partner refuses to play with me when I use this skin because the pool noodle sound effects tilt him in lane. His words not mine.)
The Pool Party line and release context
Pool Party Renekton dropped September 9, 2013. Season 3 vibes. Christian Fell nailed the splash, the composition with Renekton cannonballing into the pool while other champions scatter is one of the better group splashes Riot has done. Still holds up honestly.
The Pool Party skinline is one of Riot’s most consistent themes. Renekton fits it naturally because the crocodile-at-the-pool concept basically writes itself. You know what surprised me? How many Pool Party skins came after this one. Lee Sin, Graves, Fiora, Leona, the list keeps growing. But Renekton was one of the originals and I think his version captures the spirit of the line better than most that followed.
No chromas on this one. Kinda feels like a missed opportunity since Riot could have done different board short colors or pool noodle variants, but the base version reads clean enough on the Rift. Shop has it for 975 RP, permanent availability. Standard tier pricing.
Should you pick up Pool Party Renekton?
Real verdict: this is the fun Renekton skin. Not the tryhard pick. If you want intimidation factor go Scorched Earth or Blackfrost. But if you’ve been grinding ranked all week and need something that makes top lane feel less like a job, Pool Party is it.
975 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on abilities, the recall animation, a complete model overhaul. For a Standard skin from 2013 this punches above its weight. Played this in my Diamond promos last Tuesday around 2 AM and hard carried a game where my jungler was AFK until level 6. The pool noodle energy gave me lane prio I think.
Spammed this in Diamond for two seasons straight before rotating to other Renekton skins. Keep coming back to it though. If you main Renekton or even just play him as a counter pick into squishy top laners, Pool Party is worth the 975 RP. Best casual Renekton skin full stop. Skip the serious aesthetic, embrace the noodle.
