First time I saw Pool Party Heimerdinger load in, my duo said “why does the Donger have a rubber duck.” Took this into ranked for maybe 30 games that first week it dropped and honestly the novelty never wore off. Something about placing turrets that look like sand castles while your team is fighting over dragon just hits different. Not gonna lie, Heimerdinger skins don’t get enough love from Riot, so when this one showed up in summer 2020 I locked it in immediately.

What Pool Party Heimerdinger actually changes

The turrets. Thats the whole selling point and Riot knew it. Your Q turrets become little sand castle constructions with beach umbrellas, and they shoot water streams instead of the usual laser blasts. The upgraded turret goes full lifeguard tower mode. Genuinely one of the more creative turret redesigns across all Heimerdinger skins.

W rockets become water balloons. Simple change – huge impact. The arc looks slightly different from base because of the splash particle trail, and in teamfights when you’re dumping W into the backline the screen fills up with this blue spray that reads cleaner than you’d expect. E grenade is now a beach ball, which makes landing the stun feel weirdly satisfying. Been maining Heimerdinger with this skin since season 10 and the E hitbox feels the same but visually it looks bigger. Placebo probably.

Ult versions follow the same beach theme. Big turret, big water balloons, big beach ball. The recall animation has him setting up a full beach scene with an umbrella and a little drink. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but the VFX carry this Epic hard enough that I dont really notice.

Might be overthinking it but the auto attack particles also changed to these little water droplets. Small detail. Most people wont catch it in lane but after 200+ games you appreciate the consistency across every ability.

The Pool Party line and release context

Pool Party Heimerdinger released July 2, 2020. Mid-season 10, right around the summer event. West Studio handled the artwork and the splash is genuinely funny. Heimerdinger sitting in a pool chair with his turrets building sand castles around him. Classic Pool Party energy.

The Pool Party skinline is one of Riot’s most consistent themes. You know what you’re getting: beach aesthetics, water VFX, summer vibes. Heimerdinger fits the line better than half the roster honestly. The whole “mad scientist builds things” fantasy translates perfectly to “mad scientist builds sand castles.” Some champions feel forced into Pool Party but this one works naturally.

8 chromas total for this skin. Obsidian turns the whole setup dark which looks clean against Summoner’s Rift greens, and Rainbow is the fun pick if you want maximum visual chaos in your Diamond games. Rose Quartz has this soft pink that reads well on the turrets specifically. (Random aside: my friend who one-tricks Heimer in ARAM refuses to use anything except the Citrine chroma, says it matches his ranked anxiety or something.) Could be wrong here but I think this skin got the most chromas of any Heimerdinger skin at that point.

Is Pool Party Heimerdinger worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: for Heimerdinger mains this is a must-own. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on every ability, a solid recall, creative turret models. Dragon Trainer is the other big Heimerdinger skin and that one’s Legendary at 1820 RP, so if you want the cheaper option with strong visual identity Pool Party Heimerdinger is the pick.

Seen maybe 5 of these in my games all season, which is partly because Heimerdinger’s play rate is low and partly because Dragon Trainer exists. But for the price point this Epic delivers. Still in the shop, no vault rotation nonsense. You know what surprised me? The sand castle turrets actually have little flags on them that match your chroma color. Tiny detail, last Tuesday I noticed it after literal years of playing this skin.

Skip it if you already have Dragon Trainer and only play Heimerdinger occasionally. But if you’re climbing with the Donger in ranked, having this as your second skin in rotation keeps things fresh. Top pick for Heimerdinger mains who want something lighter than the dragon theme. 1350 RP well spent for mains, especially with 8 chromas to cycle through.
