Every summer Riot drops Pool Party skins and every summer the community argues about which one is best. Pool Party Miss Fortune from July 13, 2016 is consistently in the conversation. Alvin Lee did the splash showing MF in a red bikini with water guns replacing her usual pistols. Its a summer skin. It does summer skin things. And it does them well enough that people still run it in ranked nearly a decade later.
Water guns and beach VFX
The model puts Miss Fortune in summer beach attire with her twin pistols replaced by water guns. The auto attack animation fires water bursts instead of bullets. Love Tap passive procs with a splash effect. Feels lighter, more playful than base MF auto attacks which some ADC players actually prefer for the visual feedback rhythm. Not gonna lie the water gun autos have a weirdly satisfying feel to them when you’re last hitting in lane. Something about the splashy impact sound paired with the visual feedback just works for csing.
Double Up on Q bounces a water shot between targets. Strut on W has a sandals-running animation. Make It Rain on E drops water balloons in a zone. The slow effect has puddle particles on the ground. Bullet Time on R channels a barrage of water gun spray across a cone. The visual of MF standing on a beach towel shooting water across a teamfight at baron has this absurd contrast between the serious gameplay and the goofy aesthetic. Ulted three people at dragon pit during a ranked game and my support typed “nice water fight.” Not wrong.
Voice pack is base only. Standard Miss Fortune voice applies which is fine because the Summer energy comes through the visuals not the audio. New recall on a beach towel setup with MF posing in a lounge chair. 1350 RP, no chromas on this skin which is a slight downside compared to her newer Epic options that all come loaded with chroma packs. Part of the Pool Party skinline which is one of Riot’s biggest summer event lines. Sits in the shop permanently. The Pool Party line includes Fiora, Lee Sin, Graves, Leona, and a bunch of others so its a well-established thematic at this point.
(random thought: this skin came out in 2016 and the fact that people still use it regularly in ranked almost a decade later says something about the design quality – most skins from that era look dated by now but Pool Party MF still holds up)
Summer MF or nah
Miss Fortune has an enormous skin catalog. In the Epic tier she has Porcelain, Bewitching, Star Guardian, Arcade, and many more. Pool Party is the summer option and it fills that role well. If you want a lighthearted MF skin that doesnt take itself seriously, this is the one. The water gun auto attacks are charming and the E water balloon zone is distinct enough that enemies can read it differently than base. Not saying that matters competitively but it adds variety to the visual diet.
Standard 1350 RP. No chromas. Simple purchase for a simple pleasure. Sometimes you just want to shoot water guns at people in a competitive environment. Seen plenty of these in my Diamond games even this season which is impressive longevity for a skin approaching ten years old.
