First time I saw Crime City Miss Fortune was back in like season 2 or 3, cant remember exactly. Someone on the enemy team locked her in and I remember thinking the silhouette looked cleaner than base. Not flashy. Not trying too hard. Just Miss Fortune in a pinstripe suit with guns that mean business. Played maybe 40 games against it before I finally picked it up myself around season 5.
What the skin actually brings
So for a Standard tier skin at 975 RP, you get more than you’d expect. Crime City Miss Fortune swaps her pirate getup for a 1920s mob boss look. Pinstripe suit, fedora tilted just right, and dual pistols that fit the gangster fantasy. The new VFX give her autos and abilities a slightly different particle color that reads well in lane. Not a massive overhaul but enough that you notice it when you’re csing.
Her Q bounce feels visually tighter with the updated effects. Might be overthinking it but the Double Up particles seem to track cleaner against dark-skinned champions on the Rift. Her E, Make It Rain, keeps the same general shape but the color shift is noticeable. Ult is where it pops the most. Bullet Time with the Crime City VFX just hits different in a teamfight, especially when you’re shredding the backline from fog.
Voice lines stay base, no new VO. No recall animation either, which is expected at this price point. The model work carries the skin honestly. The suit, the hat, the pose – it all reads “crime boss” without overdesigning it.
The Crime City line and some history
Released November 1, 2011. Wild to think this skin is over a decade old at this point. Atey Ghailan nailed the splash, the lighting on the guns catches your eye immediately. The Crime City skinline has grown a lot since then. Graves, Twitch, Braum, Jinx all got Crime City skins over the years, and then Riot went full dark fantasy with Crime City Nightmare for Akali, Darius, and others.
Miss Fortune was one of the early entries though. (Random aside: I used to run Crime City MF and Crime City Graves botlane with my duo back in season 6, the thematic combo was unmatched.) The skinline pulls from noir and prohibition-era aesthetics. Not gonna lie, Riot did a solid job establishing that vibe even in 2011 when skin quality was way lower across the board.
No chromas on this one. Zero. Which tracks for older Standard skins, Riot wasnt really doing chromas back then and never went back to add them.
Should you buy it?
Real verdict: 975 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX bump puts it above the typical 975 tier honestly. Been running this in Diamond this season when I’m not on Captain Fortune or Star Guardian, and it holds up surprisingly well for a 2011 skin. The model is clean, the theme is strong, and it doesnt have that “dated” feel some old skins suffer from.
Shop has it, permanent availability. If you main Miss Fortune and want something understated that isn’t screaming for attention in champ select, this is your pick. Last Tuesday I got complimented on it in post-game chat, which almost never happens with older skins. Skip it if you need flashy recalls and 15 chromas. But for a mob boss fantasy on the Rift at under 1000 RP? Hard to argue against 975. Top pick for Miss Fortune mains who appreciate the classics.
