Battle Queen Miss Fortune

Locked in Battle Queen Miss Fortune the night it dropped in August 2024 and played maybe 15 ranked games back to back that first weekend. Not gonna lie, the splash caught me off guard. Bo ‘chenbowow’ Chen went hard on the splash and it reads like actual fantasy royalty instead of the usual Miss Fortune glamour angle. The crown, the armor plating mixed with her signature pistols. Clean work.

VFX and what actually changes in game

For an Epic skin at 1350 RP, you’re getting new VFX across the board plus a fresh recall animation. The Q bounce has this regal purple-gold particle trail that feels heavier than base. Satisfying. Her W movement speed proc lights up the ground beneath her with a faint crown pattern, though honestly you wont notice it much during a hectic teamfight.

E is where it gets interesting. The rain of bullets becomes this shower of crystalline blades falling from above. Covers the zone nicely and the visual clarity is solid, you can tell exactly where the slow field sits. Important for laning phase when you’re trying to zone the enemy ADC off cs.

Her ult though. Bullet Time sprays these golden energy waves with purple accents and the screen just lights up. Been running this in Diamond and the ult VFX genuinely feel more impactful than base, like there’s actual weight behind each wave. Could be wrong here but I think the sound design shifts slightly too, more metallic ring to each shot.

Voice lines stay base. No new VO which is standard for the tier. The recall animation has Miss Fortune summoning a throne of light and sitting down with this confident pose. Short and sweet, no 8-second cinematic, just a clean flex. (Random aside: my duo partner uses this recall to BM after every kill and it works every time.)

The Battle Queens skinline and release context

Battle Queen Miss Fortune dropped August 28, 2024. Late summer release, right around when ranked was getting sweaty before the season push. The Battle Queens line has been one of Riot’s more consistent thematic hits since the original batch. Katarina, Diana, Janna all got solid entries. Miss Fortune fits the royal warrior fantasy naturally given her lore as a Bilgewater captain who basically crowned herself.

8 chromas total for this one. Tanzanite is my go-to, the deep purple reads like actual royalty on the Rift and pairs with the base VFX colors perfectly. Obsidian goes full dark mode which looks sharp in game but loses some of the regal identity. Pearl exists for the minimalist crowd. I think most people will gravitate toward Tanzanite or Sapphire since they complement the existing particle work rather than fighting against it.

Worth the 1350 RP?

Straight talk: Miss Fortune has a massive skin catalog. Captain Fortune exists for the lore purists. Star Guardian for the weebs. Gun Goddess if you want the Ultimate experience. So where does Battle Queen land?

Honestly somewhere in the upper third. The VFX package is above average for Epic tier. Recall is good. Splash is great. Voice pack is base only which keeps it from competing with Legendaries but thats expected at this price point. Played this for about two months straight in season 14 ranked before rotating back to Star Guardian and I think Battle Queen has cleaner visual clarity during teamfights. The ult especially. When you’re channeling Bullet Time from the backline in a 5v5 around Baron pit last Tuesday, you want particles that read well through the chaos.

Miss Fortune mains who like the armored fantasy aesthetic over her more playful skins should grab this. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Skip it if you already own Gun Goddess or if you prefer the lighter thematic skins. But for the Battle Queens fan specifically, this is the best executed of the set alongside Katarina’s entry. Seen it maybe 4 or 5 times in my games since release which means its not oversaturated either. S-tier Miss Fortune cosmetic for the price range.
