Been running Battle Princess Annie in Diamond since she dropped August 28, 2024, and honestly the skin hit different than I expected from the preview. Annie mid is already a niche pick this season but when you lock her in and pull out this skin, people in draft actually take notice. The 1350 RP price is standard Epic territory and for once I think Riot earned it.

What Battle Princess Annie actually changes

New VFX across the kit. That’s the headline for this Epic, and the execution matters. The Q – Disintegrate – gets a royal blue-gold fire particle that replaces the plain orange base flame. It reads better in lane, especially when you’re timing your stun proc on last-hits before level 6. The W – Incinerate – fans the same gold-trim particles in a cone and during teamfights the improved visibility is genuinely noticeable. Not gonna lie, I landed cleaner cones in my first five games just because the particle feedback felt sharper visually.

Tibbers steals the show. The R – Summon: Tibbers – places an armored, knight-plated bear that looks like it belongs in the Battle Queens universe rather than a kid’s nightmare. The E on Molten Shield gets the particle refresh too, though it’s the subtlest change of the four. New recall animation: Annie and Tibbers hit a princess-and-guardian pose that slaps in the end-game lobby. Seen this recall maybe 40 times and it doesn’t get old. (random aside: the recall animation is currently my phone lockscreen because the composition is that good)

No new VO. Voice lines stay base – Cristina Milizia’s performance is strong enough that this barely registers as a negative. Standard voice, no new lines for an Epic, which is normal and expected.

Battle Queens line and the August 2024 release

The Battle Queens skinline is one of Riot’s stronger ongoing themes. Roanna Peroz and Kudos Productions handled the splash art, and they nailed the fantasy: Annie front and center, Tibbers looming armored behind her like a proper royal guardian. Banger splash.

Released August 28, 2024, landing about two patches before the preseason shift. Good timing for players wanting to refresh their Annie skin heading into the final ranked push of the year. I remember picking this up that same week, went like 11-2 in my first session with it, which means nothing but felt great anyway.

As a skinline, Battle Queens has a consistent visual language across the roster and Battle Princess Annie slots in cleanly. Maybe not the flashiest entry in the set, but one of the more accurate to Annie’s character: small, dangerous, and backed by a giant armored thing that will eat your backline before you process what happened.

8 chromas and the verdict

There’s 8 chromas total for Battle Princess Annie. The Sapphire chroma shifts the palette to deep blue and honestly reads like a separate skin at a glance – pairs especially well with mage item VFX mid lane. Tanzanite goes full dark purple, solid choice if you want the mage-gone-wrong vibe over the royal gold base. Obsidian runs darkest and suits players who want the least fairy-tale read on the Rift.

Shop has it, available any time, loot eligible. Standard availability, no vault hunting required.

Should you buy it? For Annie mains and one-tricks, yes, dont hesitate. The VFX refresh makes the kit feel meaningfully different from base and Tibbers with the full knight model at 1350 RP is worth the price. Could be wrong here but I think this is the best Annie skin for ranked play specifically because the particle clarity on Q actually helps your stun timing reads. Skip it if you already own Fright Night Annie or Hextech Annie and are satisfied with those – both offer comparable novelty depending on your aesthetic. For anyone still on base Annie in solo queue, Battle Princess Annie is the obvious first upgrade.
