Battle Queens Skins

All 10 skins in the Battle Queens skinline. Browse splash art, chromas, and detailed reviews for every Battle Queens skin in League of Legends.

Battle Queens is one of those skinlines where Riot went full fantasy royalty and actually stuck the landing. Think stained glass, gemstone weapons, ornate crowns, and this regal color palette that somehow doesnt look tacky on the Rift. Been running into these skins since late 2020 and every time a Battle Queen shows up in my ranked games, the loading screen just looks cleaner. Not gonna lie, the whole aesthetic reminds me of a high-fantasy chess set brought to life. 10 skins across 9 champions, one Legendary, one Prestige Mythic, and the rest sitting at Epic. Solid lineup for a line that only got two real waves.

What Makes Battle Queens Stand Out on the Rift

The visual identity here is tight. Every Battle Queens skin shares this crystalline VFX language - abilities shatter into gemstone fragments, autos leave prismatic trails, and the recall animations all involve some kind of royal throne or crown motif. The color scheme leans into deep purples, golds, and teal accents that read well against Summoner's Rift without blending into the environment. Thats actually harder to pull off than people think. Some skinlines (looking at you, Elderwood) have this problem where green VFX just disappear into the map.

Kinda feels like Riot took notes from Coven and said "what if we kept the dark fantasy energy but made it brighter and more regal." The splash arts across Battle Queens share a consistent framing too. Dramatic poses, ornate backgrounds with cathedral-style architecture, heavy lighting contrasts. Playing these skins at 2 AM during a late night ranked session, the VFX genuinely pop on screen in a way that feels premium even on the Epics.

What ties the line together best is the weapon design. Every champion gets this crystallized, almost geode-style weapon upgrade. Fiora's rapier looks like it was carved from a single amethyst. Katarina's daggers have that faceted gemstone look that catches light during her E resets. Even Janna's staff gets the treatment. The consistency here puts Battle Queens above a lot of other skinlines that just slap a theme color on existing models and call it a day.

(Random aside: the Battle Queens login screen music from 2020 is still in my playlist. Riot's music team doesnt miss.)

Compared to something like Elderwood or Coven, Battle Queens occupies this middle ground. Less horror, more power fantasy. The champions arent dark witches or forest spirits - they're warrior queens. Big difference in tone. The skinline reads as confident rather than sinister, and I think thats why it works so well on aggressive champions like Katarina and Fiora.

Best Battle Queens Skins Worth Locking In

Battle Queen Katarina is the crown jewel here. Full stop. As the only Legendary in the line at 1820 RP, she got the complete treatment - new VO, unique animations, evolving VFX that change as you get kills in-game. The dagger trails shift color through purple, gold, and teal depending on your kill count, and her ult turns into this crystalline storm that actually looks terrifying to stand in. Spammed this in Diamond for maybe 30 games when it dropped December 2020 and the kill-evolving mechanic kept every game feeling fresh. The Shunpo animation alone justifies the price.

Not sure if it's just me but Katarina mains specifically seem to gravitate toward this over her other Legendaries. Could be the evolving mechanic. Could be the splash. Probably both.

Prestige Battle Queen Diana sits at Mythic tier and honestly it earned that spot. The white and gold color shift from the base Battle Queen Diana transforms the entire feel. Base Diana skin goes dark purple royalty, Prestige goes celestial queen. The Q crescent trail in Prestige is cleaner, the R pull-in effect has this golden shockwave that reads better in teamfights. If you managed to grab this back in the 2020 event pass or rolled it from Mythic Essence later, you know. S-tier prestige skin.

Battle Queen Miss Fortune is quietly one of the better Epic MF skins. Her autos have this satisfying crystalline pop, and the Double Up bounce effect with the gemstone particles makes csing weirdly enjoyable. Been daily driving this as my ADC comfort pick since season 11 on and off. The ult especially - Bullet Time with Battle Queens VFX turns the whole lane into a lightshow.

Battle Princess Annie deserves a mention too. Different naming convention, same line. The Tibbers transformation into a crystal bear guardian is clean work. Could be wrong here but I think Annie works better with the "princess" variant title than "queen" - fits the champion's age and personality. Smart call from Riot.

Battle Queen Janna rounds out the top picks. Support mains dont always get premium-feeling skins but this one delivers. The tornado VFX with crystalline shards spiraling upward, the shield effect with that golden shimmer. Played against this in bot lane specifically last season and the Monsoon ult is genuinely harder to read with these particles. Not game-breaking, just visually dense enough that you notice it in the middle of a dive.

The Battle Queens Champion Roster

Nine champions across 10 skins (Diana gets two counting Prestige). The roster skews heavily toward female champions, which makes sense for a "queens" theme. Might be overthinking it but theres a deliberate mix of roles here that keeps the line from feeling one-dimensional.

Katarina and Fiora represent the assassin/fighter side. Both fit the warrior queen fantasy perfectly - aggressive, elegant, lethal. Fiora especially feels natural here, a fencing duelist in royal armor is almost too obvious a fit. The Grand Challenge VFX with gemstone vitals popping on each hit? Chef's kiss. Diana bridges the fighter-mage gap and her lunar aesthetic translates well into the crystalline Battle Queens palette.

Janna and Rell cover the support role. Rell launched alongside the Battle Queens line in December 2020, so she was basically built into the skinline's DNA from day one. Her mounted form in the Battle Queen skin has this armored warhorse look that fits the medieval royalty vibe. Gwen joined later and her scissors-and-needles kit gets the crystal treatment across Q snips and W mist.

Qiyana and Miss Fortune fill out the remaining slots. Real talk though, Qiyana's elemental ring with the Battle Queens overlay looks fantastic during her element swaps. The grass, water, and wall forms each get a unique gemstone tint.

Who's missing? Honestly surprised Leona never got one. Shield-wielding solar warrior queen feels like a slam dunk for this line. Irelia too - blade dancer royalty writes itself. Maybe Riot circles back eventually, but the line hasnt gotten new additions since Gwen in 2024 so who knows.

Tier Breakdown and Pricing

Eight Epics at 1350 RP each. One Legendary at 1820 RP. One Mythic (Prestige). That distribution tells you where Riot invested: the Katarina Legendary carries the line's prestige (lowercase p) while the Epics do the volume work. Fair structure honestly.

For 1350 RP the Epic Battle Queens skins deliver above average. New models, new VFX on all abilities, new recall animations, unique sound design with crystalline audio cues. Voice lines stay base on all the Epics but thats standard for the tier. No VO refresh.

The price range sits at 1350-1820 RP if you're buying from the shop. Prestige Diana requires Mythic Essence or lucky Hextech rolls at this point. Could be coping but I think the Epics in this line punch above their weight class compared to other 1350 lines. The shared visual language and consistent quality means even the "worst" Battle Queens skin still looks premium.

(Sidebar for anyone budgeting: if you can only grab one, Katarina Legendary is the play if you play her at all. If you dont touch Kat, grab whichever Epic matches your champion pool. MF and Diana base are both strong value at 1350.)

Total investment to own every Battle Queens skin you can currently buy runs around 12,470 RP give or take. Not cheap. But compared to collecting something like Star Guardian across four seasons, Battle Queens is a manageable set. Ten skins, done. Clean collection.

Battle Queens Frequently Asked Questions

How many Battle Queens skins are there?

10 Battle Queens skins total across 9 champions. Diana gets two since she has both the base Battle Queen Diana and the Prestige version. The line started in December 2020 and picked up a few more through 2024. Not a huge roster but honestly its a tight collection with no filler.

What is the best Battle Queens skin?

Battle Queen Katarina. The Legendary gets evolving VFX based on kills, new voice lines, and the best animations in the line. If you dont play Kat, Battle Queen Miss Fortune and Prestige Battle Queen Diana are both strong picks. Really depends on your champion pool but Katarina is the standout.

Which champions have Battle Queens skins?

Annie, Miss Fortune, Janna, Katarina, Fiora, Diana, Qiyana, Rell, and Gwen. Nine champions total. The roster leans toward female champions which fits the royal queen theme. Annie's version is technically called Battle Princess Annie but same skinline.

Does Battle Queens have Legendary skins?

One Legendary: Battle Queen Katarina at 1820 RP. She gets the full package with new VO, evolving kill-based VFX, and unique animations. Theres also the Prestige Battle Queen Diana at Mythic tier. Rest of the line sits at Epic 1350 RP. Katarina carries the premium weight for the whole skinline.

When did the Battle Queens skinline release?

First wave dropped December 2020 with patch 10.25. That initial batch included Katarina, Diana, Janna, Miss Fortune, Fiora, and Qiyana. Rell launched alongside it as a new champion. Later additions came through 2024 with Gwen joining the line. Two main waves over four years.

Are Battle Queens skins worth buying?

For the champions you actually play, yeah. The Epics at 1350 RP punch above their tier with consistent VFX quality and strong model updates. Katarina's Legendary at 1820 is worth it if you main her. I think the line offers better value per skin than most comparable fantasy skinlines. Just buy for your mains, skip the rest.

Do Battle Queens skins have chromas?

Several of the Epic Battle Queens skins got chroma sets when they launched. The chroma packs typically include 6-8 color variants each. Ruby and Obsidian tend to be popular picks across the line. Check individual skin pages for exact counts since not every Battle Queens skin received chromas.

Will Riot make more Battle Queens skins?

Maybe but no guarantees. The line got additions as recently as 2024 with Gwen so its not dead. Riot tends to revisit popular skinlines every couple years. Champions like Leona, Irelia, and Morgana feel like natural fits if they expand the roster. Could be wrong but I think we see at least one more wave eventually.
