Battle Wolf Sylas

First time I saw Battle Wolf Sylas load in, I thought Riot finally gave Sylas the feral energy he deserves. Not gonna lie, the wolf aesthetic fits a champion who literally steals other people’s ults better than it has any right to. Been running this skin in Diamond since around mid-season 12 and it still holds up. Clean design.

What the skin actually brings to the table

So this is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP, which means you get new VFX and a fresh recall animation. No new voice lines, base VO stays. The chains on his Q get this sharp metallic wolf-fang look that reads way better in teamfights than default Sylas. Honestly the Q2 detonation has this satisfying blue-white burst that I think makes it easier to track in chaotic fights around dragon pit.

W heal animation got a visual upgrade too. Subtle but noticeable. The lunge has wolf energy trails that pop against darker Rift terrain. E chain throw looks heavier, more aggressive. When you E2 into the backline during a dive, the particles trail behind you in a way that just feels impactful.

The recall is where it gets fun. Sylas goes full wolf mode, breaking free in this dramatic sequence. Worth watching at least once. Could be wrong here but I think the recall alone sells the skin for me over something like Freljord Sylas. The R steal animation keeps the blue wolf theme regardless of which ult you grab, which is a nice touch when you’re cycling through stolen ults in a late-game comp.

Anima Squad and the release window

Battle Wolf Sylas dropped March 31, 2022. Part of the Anima Squad skinline. Jennifer Wuestling nailed the splash, the composition with Sylas mid-leap surrounded by that blue aura is genuinely one of my phone wallpapers (random aside: been rotating between this and the Ashen Slayer splash for months now).

Anima Squad as a line leans into this military mecha-animal hybrid thing. Sylas fits the wolf archetype perfectly. Wild. Unchained. The whole Anima Squad batch from that patch was solid but I think Battle Wolf Sylas and Battle Bunny Miss Fortune were the standouts.

9 chromas total if you want variety. Obsidian goes dark and menacing, fits the whole rogue wolf fantasy hard. Nightwire has this orange-blue contrast thats pretty unique among the set. Tanzanite pulls a deep purple that reads almost void-adjacent in game. Wont list all nine but those three are the ones I keep coming back to in my ranked games.

Is Battle Wolf Sylas worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: if you play Sylas with any regularity, this skin earns the 1350 RP. Might be overthinking it but I rank this above Project Sylas for pure gameplay feel. The VFX are cleaner, the theme is more cohesive, and the splash is top tier. Banger skin.

Been maining Sylas with this equipped for maybe 150 games across two seasons. Still not bored. The wolf motif on the chains during lane phase, the way Q particles cut through fog of war when you’re poking pre-6, the recall flex after a successful gank – it all works. Last Thursday I had a game where I stole a Malphite ult and the wolf-themed unstoppable force looked absurd in the best way.

Shop has it permanently. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Skip it if you already own Ashen Slayer since that one edges it out slightly for pure visual quality, but for Sylas mains who want something with personality over edge? Top pick. Worth it.
